My usb port had a melt down with BlackBerry 12v charger. It will no longer accept a charge. I did open it up and try to clean it but it looks pretty bad. It is just off warranty by a month and in perfect condition too. Is there anything that can be done short of a new mother board?

Probably not as there's no telling how far it went in frying it.

It still works great other than not being able to take a charge.

As bla1ze already pointed no one here has the magic to see the damage, but it's possible to solder a new micro usb port on there.

Just to close this up. I searched high and low for a replacement charge port and could not find one. On a whim I stopped into my local fixmycell shop and $75 later my passport is rocking again!
