The software the phone comes with .1955, the maps app didn't work at all. When I open it, it shows my location, but when I input an address to get directions for, it tells me it can't find my location and cancels. Also, when I download apps from amazon, the virtual keyboard doesn't work. So I can't put in login info.

I wiped the device with sicwipe and loaded .2726 , so far that has fixed the issue with android apps, however the map app is still bugged. It works a lot better, but while I'm driving, when I turn a corner, the app freezes and I have to close it and start it again.

The phone is a vast improvement from the Z10, which never seemed to be fully functional and two of them died and had to be replaced, but as a contractor I need to map to find and drive to job sites. So I'm wondering if I should tough it out and hope new updates improve the phone quality, or would switching to a Classic be more stable?

I'm 25 and have only ever owned BlackBerry devices. I'd hate to have to buy an android just for a working map.

The 'BeMaps Pro' is an excellent map application. You should try it.

    Congrats with your new Passport!

I also recommend Mireo don't panic, which I've tried and finally bought.
Tested in the US, Greece, Germany and the UK and it works great in all these places. It is based on Tom Tom maps and it doesn't need a constant data connection to operate.

Waze through Amazon App store has worked flawlessly for me.

    I'm also using AT&T Passport.

I've seen many post that when on AT&Ts network the GPS doesn't work.

I've had an issue with my GPS a couple of times and a reboot has always fixed it.

I had exactly the same issue for over a month and only now have I been able to resolve it, even BlackBerry couldn't help me with a fix.

For some reason I got the idea that it could be an app interfering with Maps, something that relied on using the GPS as well. The first app I deleted was Poynt and once I did that Maps worked again and has continued working consistently for the last week or so. It seems that Poynt is not compatible with 10.3.1/2 and effs up anything else that uses GPS to operate.

If it's not Poynt for you then identify which apps you have that use GPS and uninstall one by one until you find the one that's causing all the issues.

    EDIT

I forgot to mention, my wife's Z30 had exactly the same issue develop when she got the .1779 update. I told her to remove Poynt and everything's working again as it should.

Hey also try to reload your OS before updating. Doing an sic wipe or or security wipe doesn't fix issues, but reloading the OS through BlackBerry link has fixed some problems that I've had that no one has ever found a solution to.
    Of course, don't restore afterwards.
And use Waze, it's one of the best gps apps.
