Damm I thought I was doing good on my Passport keyboard....

    My best is 28 wpm

Oh well only a couple of weeks in from switching from a Z10, lost my key touch feel I guess. I used to hammer very quickly on my old 9810 Torch.

I find the finger travel on the Passport is what is hurting me..need to get better memory on key placement.

These are very good results. Using the ExtremeTypist app, I've never exceeded 39 WPM with my Q10. Same results on the Z30.

As noted, this app doesn't allow word prediction, which would push WPM over 60 even for a slowpoke like me.

Extreme typist competition!-img_20141105_012554.png I'm very happy with the speeds I achieve on the Passport. This is my first Blackberry device, too. A learning curve, sure, but it's hardly a complicated keyboard.

I struggle to believe that anyone would be able to get 60wpm though. I'm a professional writer so I'm a very quick touch typer as it is anyway. Given the width of the keyboard I suspect the physical limit on the Passport keyboard is mid 50s.

I too am impressed at the speeds by some of you.

I am assuming that you high achievers are able to type mostly without looking at the keys?

My spelling is bad so I have to check the words, when I do that it slows me down as I also have to look at the keys.

I largely don't look at the keys but I do have to occasionally look down. I wouldn't have to look down if there were nibbles or dents on the f and j keys, but there aren't.

I'll be impressed with 60wpm on Passport. I think it might be physically impossible though. Fastest I can get is 54/55 but even that's verging on tripping my thumbs up over each other

Extreme typist competition!-img_20141105_143952.png Actually, maybe 60wpm is possible after all. I just typed this even with the case folded up behind the phone, and I slipped up a couple of times during the test.

You will... give it time my friend use blackberry's since the Blackberry 8800, i'm so used to physical keybaords. Don't try to become faster, try Extremetypist in 6 months time and you'll be surprised to see your score close or even over 40 ... and then comes 50

Thanks for the vote of confidence...

I guess what I was trying to convey is that I thought my 25 wpm was pretty good, 50 must look freakishly impressive.

I have been away from even trying to type on my device for 2 years, went to the Z10 for the Screenestate and regretted it right away...missed my chiklets from my old Torch.

Unfortunately the touch screen keyboard trained my fingers to not push on the keys and most of my miss hits are touches and not full presses. I also struggle with finger travel over the width.

Don't get me wrong, at least now I can actually type on a device....just not at the insane speeds I have been seeing here.

    My updated score.

    Extreme typist competition!-img_20141106_151240.png

I am confused about one thing. I run out of words and the timer is still going but since I don't have anything to type it just sits there. This is why I cannot score higher. How are you 50+ WPM guys getting those rates? Do you not run out of words?

Yes, you run out of words and it stops. I think it does a calculation based on the amount of words you type in the time it takes you .

Practice. I use my phone a lot. This app can actually improve your typing skills too. You'll get really familiar with the key positioning.
