I recently updated the OS and it worked fine for a few days, but now I am getting emergency service only. I don't know what the issue is. My sim works in my wife's q10 but no go on the Passport.

Any one else run into this? Perhaps a carrier issue?

Try to change your wife, I mean your SIM card...

For some sort of strange reason, Passport seems to be incompatible with old SIM card. But this could easily be solved by just replacing with new SIM card. Just go to your provider and request for a new SIM card.

I have been using it with my current SIM since I got it in december. So I don't see how that is an issue, though I still plan to try it.

Well, believe it or not, SIM card also deteriorate, can be damaged and even expired. There is no harm in trying...

I will try. But I have tried the SIM in two different phones, a q10 and a Lumia. Both work. And the Passport does detect the SIM. It just won't connect to Tmobile.

That's the right time also to verify and check their operating band frequencies.

And ask them directly of why you're getting this 'emergency call service' more often...

May be you should reload the OS or electively the radio BAR-file(s)

    Workhorse: BlackBerry|Q10, SQN100-3, OS 10.3.2.2639; Power Workhorse: BlackBerry|Passport, SQW100-1, OS 10.3.2.2639 ; Germany.

Have you tried a hardreset yet? Sometimes that is the easiest fix for weird behaviours. If that doesn't work, I have to second the above opinion to reload the firmware. Connect your Passport via USB with Link and follow the instructions to reload the software. Keep in mind you'll loose all the data on the device memory, so make sure to save important data.

Personally I doubt the SIM is the problem. If it worked before your update and still works on two different phones, I think we can rule that out.

What is a hard reset? Is that different than restarting the device?

The radio version in that OS is garbage. I have the same issue with it on Wind mobile, which uses the same frequencies.

You'll have to load an older radio, one from the 10.3.2.8xx versions that will fix it, but be aware that it breaks nfc functionality.

I had to stop using my passport because of that, it kept bothering me to update my radio, but doing that killed my signal.

Yes, that's how I do it. Get the radio file (30 ish mb), and side load it with sachesi. Make sure to click allow downgrades.

How do I get the file? What am I looking for?

I have used Sachesi before, so I know how to install the files once I get it, but I need to know what to download.

Use Google, type in 10.3.2.859. It should lead to a link here in the forums, make sure you download the passport radio file

I tried that, it didn't help. I am considering an autoloader for an entire OS.

Yeah, this just doesn't make sense. Also, it is odd that it keeps wanting to latch onto ATT, thoug sometimes it connects to verizon and it will show Tmobile as the home network but say emergency even when it does connect.

You already removed the possibility of external factors such as damaged SIM card by replacing it with a new one and the incompatibility band frequencies.

The only thing left now are internal factors such as a 'glitch' when you upgraded to latest OS version, in which, again, should be easily solved by just reloading the OS again OR hardware problem that you may unaware resulted from accidentally dropping or bumping hard your device...
