Are you absolutely sure it's locked to EE?

I know that sounds like a stupid question but I was under the impression that the only place you can buy a passport (instore) is Carphone Warehouse and they don't lock their devices to a network... I have a passport from carphone warehouse and used to be on EE (now O2) but EE told me they don't even offer the passport on EE contracts.

Not sure if that helps you at all though, sorry!

Have you put in a SIM from another carrier to verify it isn't working?

Once you have the IMEI, you can call EE back and ask again. If it is not locked to them, they should be able to tell you who it is locked to (I think).

The email you signature that you mentioned would be left over from when the previous owner probably had the device with an EE sim. It's sets it automatically depending on the sim you first insert. I would just try inserting another nano sim and seeing if it finds a signal.

I just tried a new sim in mine (different network) and it worked with no issues.

With EE, like Orange and T-mobile, you can usually find an unlock phone request form on the website and it should be processed within 10 days for roughly 9. Another way to unlock your iPhone would be through a third-party website that provide such service for a much smaller fee as compared to EE or any other huge carrier. You can look at the sites when you search through Google. This is handy if you're in the same situation as Giorgos. Another website is unlockyoursim.com) They offer to guide you and help you through the entire process of unlocking your phone with their given code in return for answering a short survey for them. I hope this helps!

Can you please describe what you mean by "locked" ?
Do you mean you need a password to use it or that you have a network (cell) error ? If yes, what's the information message ?
