I am seriously considering "downgrading" from the Priv to the Passport. The only Android apps which I use with any frequency are Kindle and Kobo for reading ebooks. I see that both apps are available in BlackBerry World, but I suspect that these are not native apps and that they are Android ports Is that correct? If it is, how well do they work on BB 10 and on the Passport in particular?

Kindle works great on the Passport. Space bar to flip pages actually works. It's the only Android app I've seen that uses the keyboard.

Maybe not entirely relating to your question OP, but I highly recommend Playepub Book Reader in BBW. Fantastic app for the Passport. I have used Kindle also on the Passport and it's ok as well but I've since deleted it. I've never used the Kobo app in BBW but there are decent and current reviews for it.

I had a Classic up until December and used the Kobo app - it was an Android one but worked pretty well.

The Kindle app on Amazon is a rare exception to that general rule since it's basically a part of Amazon.

No, it does not: see Playepub – Epub, Kindle and FB2 ebook reader for Blackberry 10 and Playbook for a complete description.

Thanks for the link. I may well give it a try for non-DRM books.

The Kindle app in BB World has been abandoned. It worked ok the last time I tried it, but newer features like Prime magazines do not function. As others have said, just use the Amazon Appstore version.

Kindle works great on the Passport without any prep work. No Cobalt install needed.

Kindle from Amazon Appstore works fine on my Passport. Yet sometimes it can be slow, especially with pdf documents.

Kobo is the best. I have had it on my playbook, passports and my z30 since 2012. Works flawlessly. Never had any problems with it.
The kindle app drains your battery.
    Not worth it.

Thanks for the info. Is that the Kobo app as it appears on BB World?

I have Kobo and it works fine; Kindle from the Amazon app store makes my Passport SE go hot and eat through the battery, rendering it useless.
