So why does it progressively get worse if it's software? My Q10 has become border line unusable as it has gotten significantly worse with no signs of slowing down.

Because BlackBerry is not releasing OS updates to compensate for the issue as the keyboard breaks in.

... Maybe because blackberry keyboards are so high quality, so precise, with tight tolerances that this issue afflicts blackberry.
    That's a good one!

My only comment here is that the problem is probably both software and hardware related. The hardware initiates the issue by registering twice quickly, and then the software is at fault for not correcting automatically. There should be a time limit on typing two letters, for however possibly fast someone could press a key twice....maybe .1 seconds or something like that. Seems to me that would solve the issue quickly (pun intended). Anyway....only reason I'm here is after two months of ownership, my passport started yesterday double typing the letter b. Dammit. Now who can point me to the easiest way of installing that leak? I'm on AT&T, and have a mac desktop, if that makes a difference anymore.

The fix is hear. The latest leaked OS (10.3.2.2639) fixes the DT issue. Finally. For those that do not like leaks, I hope this update gets pushed to all users ASAP.
Wait a second....I have 10.3.2.556 on my passport already. I thought newer OS release numbers went up, not down.

    556 is lower than 2639

Edit: before you post saying it's not; you're running 556 not 5560.

Just loaded the update today and I've not had a DT occurrence since. Still early but definitely a noticable difference and hopefully completely solved!

    ALL keyboards have this issue.
I have owned six separate physical qwerty keyboard Blackberrys and have not had one do this.

Someone a long time ago posted on here and showed how he fixed it. Showed the domes misaligned on the disassembled keyboard. Showed the fix. Said he did not have the issue after correctly aligning the domes and reassembling. I am not good at working on electronics. So I would think swapping the keyboard is much easier.

    Here is one such post.

So you mean DT is mainly because of hardware? Do you have that problem and get fixed by changing the keyboard?

    Posted via CB10
There is a hardware issue that is the root cause, though it makes sense that the OS can also mitigate it to a degree (I would think). Sure perhaps BlackBerry is also tweaking things in the OS so that it does solve it for some cases even without new hardware. Here is the cause as detailed by someone in 2011 about his Bold. Note the pics of the membrane and the domes.

I mean theoretically no phone is built perfectly. So I would guess after some wear any phone could possibly have this type of problem. I myself have never had a phone with the issue and I have owned 6 physical KB BlackBerrys. I did have a Bold 9930 where keypresses failed to register though.

My double typing started ONLY AFTER the 10.3.2 upgrade official ATT.

I just updated to the .2639. We'll see.

I have had AWFUL double typing on my AT&T Passport the past few months. I know many others have experienced the same. I was giving BlackBerry one more month to solve the issue with a software update before calling AT&T for a replacement unit.

Happy to know that fixes your double typing issue. I got mine sorted after loading (non destructively) 10.3.2.2339 and I've been rocking my Passport since OS was announced months ago.

Unfortunately, 2339 doesn't fix DT on my Q10.. but 2639 does it! Yay!

I have been waiting for people commenting on the Q10 DT issue and the 2639 fix. Are you saying you have actually installed the 2639 on your Q10, and it has fixed your DT problem?

All of them physically double-typed to some degree. It's just that the software caught and corrected. Maybe some were physically less prone to it, but ALL keyboards double type.
