Skype seems to be working fine for me after heating up my phone for 10min.

However, I still have the 2 notifications showing.

It's the Skype Status which constantly sends ongoing notification.

Turn it off. You will still get notification on messages and calls.

I turned it off and turned it back on and now I only have 1 notification showing for Skype instead of 2.

When you said 'don't update the Skype' do you really meant not to update it to its latest version? Because I did... and so far, no double notification or whatsoever... hope, it stay like that until the next update...

I saw this with the Skype app but I never used it before the update so I can't compare. I see this sometimes with the other apps I use. I also just assumed that my Z30 doesn't have enough processing power.

I am facing a different problem. Skype doesn't identify my BlackBerry Passport's data connection. Anyone got a solution to fix this?

So nice! Got the previous version installed....working nicely for the moment...will report back at the end of the day; but for now it looks like the version I had before the update, with the horizontal arrow in the send button and with the old sign in. Thanks a million. Forums Rule!

Go to Settings/Network and Connections, then tap on Mobile Network, and make sure your Data Services toggle is set to on. You will need that to run Skype without a WiFi. Also make sure you have a good data account because Skype will use it fast. Unlimited Data would be nice....

The first "not connected" show if you are connected to a call or not,
the other show if you show as available or not

nothing strange or weird about it
That is both strange and weird.

I installed the latest version of Skype on my passport last night. Now I'm getting double notifications, and the program crashes randomly. Unless someone knows of a fix...or maybe I'm doing something wrong...I don't recommend upgrading, since the previous version ran flawlessly for me for a long time....and I used it almost all the time!
I've had these problems before (much earlier versions of skype on my Q10 and Passport) but not this time - HOWEVER, I have learnt to do a re-boot after any Skype upgrade. Give it a go, and let us know if the re-boot fixes your problems.

    Yep, here too.

Too lazy to remove and re-install. I don't use Skype enough to justify being bothered. lol

    It doesn't.
Just a heads up: When it comes to fixing issues you do not hold top buttom > tap reboot.

You hold top buttom till you see red LED followed by BB logo. That's the equivalent of an old fashioned BBOS battery pull.

Besides that I'm curious to know how do you guys use Skype full time on BlackBerry? For me, the previous version killed the battery and made my Passport super hot if I leave it signed in.

Skype caused high battery drain on my Q10 too. Even when logged out. Nothing solved the issue except removing it.

I updated and have no such issues.
So, I guess it's just the people who are still on the BB10 runtime that are having the problem?

I had the same double notification as well yesterday night when first install. Surprisingly this morning open up Skype just to test out and the Hub is showing the correct way.

Just did a boot or it could just be one time showing duplicate when first device first start up.

Cobalt's Google Play Store prompted me to upgrade my BlackBerry version of Skype, which is funny. Anyway I did, and I made my first video call last night. Video and audio were great.

One problem though. During the call, I switched applications and went to check the weather. I couldn't properly get back to the call. Returning to Skype showed my caller in a tiny one inch frame in the upper right, then went totally black black screen and froze.

Question to anyone using the "official BlackBerry" version: Are you able to switch out of Skype during a call to do something else then successfully return to the conversation?

I've "downgraded" to the "official BlackBerry" Skype, and I'll try later, but curious to others' experience with this.

I do get double "Available" notifications, but as others have said, it seems I can successfully turn them off.

The Android version KILLED my batter though. 12% gone in a 25 minute call! Is the BlackBerry version better?

    Thanks!
