Coming from BB 7 devices we are very used to having the trackpad. I know that you can "mouse" around on the keyboard of the passport, but can you select or execute an icon without having to move up to the screen? Just wondering. I have a very screen averse user who is used to navigating with the trackpad. Probably going to use a classic, but wondering about Passport and Priv.

Passport doesn't have the mouse operation. You can only move around the cursor when writing or scroll around but it doesn't show you the mouse itself floating around.

If it could, I don't see why we couldn't tap on the keyboard to simulate "Enter".

I stand corrected. Not mouse operation but move around trackpad type operation. Yes, I'm wondering if a tap on the keypad will perform the same operation as pressing the trackpad (select/enter)

It doesn't have any sort of functionality like you are thinking. It works for text selection, zooming and scrolling.

Oh, and also for swiping while typing.

As others have indicated, it doesn't. BlackBerry could have easily done it in my opinion.

I would rather have a mouse icon floating while browsing than the keyboard scrolling.

Pretty sure it was designed for typing more than the scrolling though. I'd say that's an added thought.

Some kind of trackpad capability would be could but oh so annoying if it would be poorly implemented

Agreed, do it if it's possible. I don't think BlackBerry does any functionality half baked anyways.
Moreover they can provide an option in the settings to enable "pointer" which disables the use of keyboard scrolling.

I wonder if some of the third party browser developers could make this happen. Or if BlackBerry has to add some api for it.
