Can you use it to get directions --driving directions, or to know where you are, or to get maps?

All BB10 phones including Passport ship with Blackberry Maps. BlackBerry maps includes full turn by turn directions for many countries, but not all.

Yes, BlackBerry Passport does have GPS and it can be used with the proper app.

Yeah, remember there is "real" GPS (global position system -- uses satellites) and there is cell network guidance. If you are in a spot where you cannot get network reception real GPS will still work but you will need off-line maps. Network guidance will download maps as you go.
