I usually don't reply to threads like this. It's a matter of personal preference and taste.
And YES, I really like the Passport design.

But why?
Possibly cause it's something going in a new direction.
Something that steps out/up.
Something for those people who prefer productivity screen ratio over
media consumption screen ratio.
Why calling it productivity screen ration? After all human vision has always been landscape, the sad thing is most landscape devices are poorly optimized once the keyboard is showing. IMO the Passport fixes that part. Highres + landscape + hardware keyboard == happy me!

If you do watch a lot of videos on your device, the Passport might just not be the right for you and I am sure there will be another full touch in the future!
On the other hand think of it that way, while watching a video on the Passport there is still enough space to reply to instant notifications without anything getting in the way =D

I'm not so sure it will be a big hit but will definitly appeal to some people. It looks like a big device. Wondering how easy it will be to type with such little space for the keyboard. If it does take off cargo pants will make a big come back.

I think if you are loving Q10, then you would feel a little uncomfortable about passport square design. hope the corners could be rounded just like Q10. Hope the passport we've seen is the dev version, which means have possibility to change when official release.

But if it doesn't change from what we've seen right now, then it is ok to accept it. "Long time see brings like-feeling" , LOL

In my experience what people really like is making videos in the long narrow tall android/iphone format then up loading them to youtube or showing them to friends at Birthday party's and weddings on wide screen TV with 18" side borders!

No different than all other slab phones out there lol how many people me included said that Phablets wouldn't sell but there is a market for big a$$ square or rectangular phones.

I love how they're taking a chance with something new. Maybe they think that they won't be able to play the iPhone and Android game... it's nice to see that they're doing what they do best: phones with keyboards.

The square screen doesn't bother me. The 1:1 ratio is nice for many things as the Q10 has taught me.

The crippled hardware keyboard though... Well that's another story altogether.

I hope not! I love the square and the corners. Makes it look sharp - no pun intended.

Combine that with the capacitive keyboard, well I just can't wait to try it.

Yes i love it. Rounded corners have been the "it" thing for long enough. Its just like car designs come in cycles. 1998 mustang(rounded) 1999 mustang (slightly boxy), 2005 mustang (more boxy) then 2014 mustang ( more rounded).

I miss the square type laptop screens. They seem to "page" more comfortably with documents and the web (maybe that's what Google was doing with the Chromebook Pixel). The "rectangular" screens work better for movies, games, or two documents side by side. Concerning the Passport, I'm up for using this device and excited for the user experience it will introduce.
