Been using the pp for four days straight now, love the device, but i just miss the fourth row. ( 'YOU SHOULD GET A CLASSIC/ Q10' )

I think for people that have been using an Android or iOS phone, the switch to a 3-row keyboard is less difficult then for someone that has
been using the Q10/ any other 4 row bb phone for the past years.

    Anyone else having problems?

It does take some getting used to but I think your muscle memory will adapt over time. For instance I find myself pressing the "z" key thinking it's the alt key when I want to insert a symbol. I've only had the pp for two days so I'm sure I will get out of that habit the more I use it.

The 3 rows keyboard it's without any doubt an idiotic idea, but it's doable. It's slower, but it's not impossible to come through or frustrating.

Miss the number keys - would have preferred a touch screen alt to having all numbers and symbols being touch only.

If BlackBerry had put the 0 on the q and moved # and * down that would have been fine.

What I miss the most is from home screen just starting a phone no
    0161
And seeing few Manchester contacts to choose from....

    Or 0181 was really good.

Yes, but that's not the keyboard fault... they could implement it anyway.
I hope they don't remove it for Q5/Q10 too... it's caused by the new BB Assistant.

    Don't think it's BlackBerry assistant.
    I have figured this.

From home screen press any key (short press starts assistant)
    Swipe left over keyboard
    Plant right thumb on @123
Start typing number with left hand - Assistant works same.

Now is there a way to type numbers from the home screen?
Or start assistant and start typing numbers without first typing letters?
I can start the phone app but when I start to type a number I don't see relevant contacts?
I can start assistant with the icon but slower than press any key and still has issue need a character before can type a number?

One useful tip is press and hold @123 for numbers from keyboard as I state above. A long press is number LOCK

At this point, I dictated the phone number to Assistant.
(Which, by the way now sounds human in Italian... before it was really robotic, with a ridiculous accent).

I had the Q10 and for a couple days I missed the fourth row on the Passport. Then I got used to swiping down once or twice to access symbols, or just using the always-visible row.

Now I see what BlackBerry has done and actually the three rows works. I tried to type on my Q10 after a couple days and it was a disaster. There's no going back, and now I don't even know if I'll want the Classic, which I was planning on getting, because of how great the Passport keyboard is.

It's always going to be a personal experience and opinion. In my case, no issue. Took me about half a day to get used to it. Now it's very fluid.

I don't miss it at all and I am coming off a q10. My only quibble is that the number keypad should be on the right side...or switchable. I am finding I am getting smoother and faster on this keyboard. I am not even missing the alt key, just using a long press for capitalization. Loving the Passport!

I thought I would but honestly I've already gotten used to typing without it. And it's not very often I need those numbers or anything other than standard punctuation when I'm texting/emailing.

I want to take back any of my negative posts concerning the keyboard.

It's took over a week - me using the touch screen for all numbers and the symbols thinking this feels dumb, not sure if I like this?
Today I discovered the single and double down stroke gesture over the keyboard. I also discovered the long press on the upside down ^ in right corner of screen.

No more nasty touch screen entry of numbers only now using the touch screen for the occasional comma, ? mark or full stop.

I came from a Q10 and I at first didn't like this three row keyboard, after a week of use I am getting used to it and I think I will actually like it more. I have big thumbs so it seems easier to type for me, just my two cents.

What if you are in a spreadsheet/need to work with a lot of numbers - are the numbers still easy/fast enough to get to on the screen?
