I personally don't use one at all. I just go into the app manager and select the do not run when minimized option. Haven't had any problems myself.

I don't see that option in App Mgr. I'm running Passport SQW100-3/10.3.1.2582 . I use task Manager and advanced task killer as these apps run behind the scenes all the time. I don't see anywhere in App Manager for that option though.

I use Ghost Commander. It is both a task manager and a file manager. Among other things, you can use this app to stop those pesky android notifications showing up in the Hub. You can get it from App World or Snap.

To kill android tasks in the background, I use Advanced Task Killer from Snap. This app kills the android apps and itself in two taps. But Beware that some android apps revive themselves in the background later.

Just click the Go to Application Permissions at the bottom of this screen and it will allow you to go into the individual apps and turn off running in the background

I am using the Blackberry App manager to prevent apps from running in the background, but it doesn't always work. I constantly see the Starbucks NBCsports, and a bunch more that can't be kept in their cages. I found this out when I downloaded the Advanced Task Manager from Snap. Boom! I had 10+ apps running and I didn't know it.

Best one. It will show android processes the stock device manager will not show.
The stock OS device manager does not close certain android apps properly.
Ghost commander is an option but too tedious to go in every time to kill an android app. Ghost commander is good to turn off notifications on android apps.

That's unfortunate. I downloaded this app probably around the time I got my Z30, over a year ago. It's always been in my list of available BlackBerry world apps.

I can't see why it's been made unavailable. It's a simple app. Runs on my Passport and Z30 great.

If anyone knows how I can extract the apk file from my phone I'm more than willing to do that and share it.
It's a free app so I'm not taking any revenue away from the developer.

believe it would be a .bar file only 52kb..would be nice to have. I dont understand why it exists and has a download link in bbw, but clicking that button always gives a network error.

    Works pretty good.
    Quick and easy to use.

I don't really think you guys need one to be honest it's just a waste of space if you guys don't want it to run when minimized then do what the above post suggested with not allowing it to run

Task manager actually detects android processes that are running not just the apps.
You can set all your android apps to not run when minimised but you will still have android processes running in background. These processes aren't detected by the OS device manager.

With the Classic I go into Devise Monitor then Memory and shut down any app I don't need running. Using this I have caught a couple of Android apps that I had closed, but for some reason was still running in the background even though they shouldn't have been. I even do this right after a device restart. I have one android app that likes starting up in the background.
Not sure if you guys have this, but you should with the latest os update.

Completely agree, this task manager works best, even if you just view and run it once a day...in my experience at least you can close down background android apps that turn on for whatever reason.

I found the apk in my phone using ghost commander.

I'll upload it to box or dropbox. Haven't used either in a while. Will post the link once it's up.
