    But is it easy to fine the right MB component (not the main board, but a component board)? Is it the same for all three Passports? Who has them?

    I agree it would be easier if it can be identified and sourced. Just plug and play vs having to solder a part off and on - really need a pro to do it. But then if you have to pay for the part and pay for the repair... easy might be to buy a new used one and not deal with the finding of parts and a repair person.

    Changing the port is a hassle, finding a board is very easy as the model is one of the 3 issued. Also many cheap ones on E bay with broken screens and alike. The MB is easy and fast, micro soldering is a skill 99% repair places do not have.

    I don't see too many cheap Passports for parts on eBay....
