The passport is gorgeous - but I'm afraid of scratching it. I understand in theory gorilla glass wont scratch - but can anybody confirm I'm safe to run this baby with no screen protector? I still have the protective film over the screen which 3 weeks in is looking kind of knackered.

I've been using a screen protector for a few months. Now, I think it is pointless.

I'm using the screen protector that came with the half shell case. My Passport is too dear to me to do otherwise.

I disagree. GG3 is fine. You ruin the look and feel of the phone with a screen protector.

A lot to tech goes into the protective coatings on screens. You negate all of it with a screen protector.

Just be careful and you'll be fine.

I was using the factory screen protector for a while, than the corner started to lift so i took it off and went bare for a few days

Finally put on my new screen protector and low and behold i have a tiny micro scratch about an inch long in the center of my screen... you cant see it when screen is on and will have a hard time finding it when screen is off...

So yes, i would suggest a screen protector if you want to keep it in 100% mint coniditon

This is made of tempered glass not plastic.

Shattering won't be prevented by any screen protector, those just protect the surface itself from any scratches.
Gorilla Glass 3 might be strong, but just like all previous GG versions, it still can be easily scratched by certain common objects, sand is a decent example. If you really want to keep the screen in mint condition, you still need to use a screen protector. I am pretty sure even GG4 or GG5 won't change this fact.

Personally I'd recommend a tempered glass kind of screen protector, those not only keep the feeling you get from the original glass, but they also usually come with decent coatings and are easier to apply. They are more expensive for sure, but well worth the price.

I used to think the same, however it is a fact that screen protectors scratch way more easily than the gorilla glass itself. Gorilla glass is brittle in that it can shatter when dropped, but a screen protector will not do you much good in that case.

If you keep the phone in the same pocket with keys etc, I would get a screen protector, but IMO I'd rather enjoy the screen in its full and intended beauty!

I just use a rubber case with a open face just in case I drop my phone,to absorb impact, I look at my friends phones and all I see is bubbles & the corners peeling up, plus when i've tried there phone it feels really different than actually touching the real screen.

I just re-read my post and it makes it sound like my new screen protector has a scratch...

That is not the case, my actual screen has the scratch as I left it bare a few days before putting my new screen protector on

I keep my phone in my pocket, alone without keys or anything to damage it, my only conclusion is the rivet head on my jeans is the culprit... so like i mentioned, i do recommend a screen protector if you want your phone to stay 100% perfect instead of 99%...

I'm not using a screen protector, but I have to say if you pay good cash for a sweet device you gotta take care of it some how, I'd like to put a protector on but suck at doing it so I don't bother.

I still haven't taken the factory one off. I'm afraid to so I'll probably just leave it.

Only has that little triangle at the bottom right. Most in the past had some big graphic on them so you had no choice.
