From what I can gather, there are two speakers at the bottom of the Passport. Do these play music in real stereo? Or are they just two speakers in mono?

I imagine actual Stereo, the z30 certainly sounds like it
Play a song that you know uses stereo. And try to listen for each independent speaker.

They're stereo. I suggest reading this review in particular if you really care about the audio on the Passport. - Blackberry Passport Review Part 2: So how does it sound? ? Audiophile on
I don't have the phone yet...ordered it yesterday and AT&T is saying it won't be delivered until the 16-18th July. Bummer that.
Thanks for the link Bla1ze. Good to read bbry finally added some rudimentary equalizer presets to the native music app. Article didn't talk anything about the device's external speakers though - but I'll take your word for it that there's actually two speakers (as opposed to just two openings for one speaker) and they play music in stereo.

The BlackBerry Virtual Expert can demonstrate the left and right channels.

It can definitely play 'stereo' if your music is recorded in stereo sound...
