    Dear all,

So I called my inside guy at Digicel Jamaica who handles BlackBerry and he tells me late November for release for passport.
No price as yet, all phones are non contract here.
I feel it's gonna be pricey though when purchased through the provider, as an example:
The HTC one M8 sells for over JA $100,000 @110-1 that's still over US $900

    Regards David

Yah I'm from yawd too I live here in Toronto and yup the blackberry passport in Jamaica is going to be expensive...even the s5 is over 100k jmd which is insane......but nuff people just ask a friend or a relative to get a phone for them when they come down to visit. The prices in Jamaica for phone are ridiculous

Wow, if the Caribbean will start to get the Passport in November,.. that's good news as far as the global rollout is concerned. I agree that BlackBerry prices in the Caribbean are ridiculous,.. not sure how they expect to compete when the carriers are offering those "Blu" androids for a fraction of the price.

I may well buy it overseas...as there only "seems" to be one model for the passport.

In the past It seems that as I bought my Z10 from the carrier that I always got updates waaaaay before any other users especially STL 2,3,4's models which were imported from all manner of places and maybe it's biased thinking but my carrier bought Z10 always "seemed" to work better, smoother, faster etc than others

Lmao Can you add the cost of the flight tickets to and from Miami, plus the cost of the phone and then kindly tell us which is cheaper. Do you still think that the $ 100K JA is still very expensive?

It's because of their taxes in the south is why the phone is priced heavily

I have bought my last 3 BlackBerry's from Digicel...company phones, + as a Digi business customer I got the Z10 18 months ago for $63,000...that said if it's stupid money like $100,000+ I may well buy it overseas especially if it's one model.

I do travel to Ft Lauderdale a lot so will just wait and have it sent to my aunts house etc

Got my z10 off Amazon $220us while digicel still have it at $65k(us$600+).... makes no sense getting your device from digicel.

Re the flying out, remember there hasn't been a price set yet. And the z10 started at about $90k so the passport gonna be much more (just my guess) so if it's priced at $600us you might be able to get a $300+ ticket to Florida. Have sum fun, link few fam + frenz + cop ur fone for about the same as going to digicel.

To each his own. Never cared much for warranties. For all the people who I know got digicel/lime fones none has had to send back, and I never had reason to. All my fones get sold or given away when it comes time to upgrade. But I'll never buy a fone at 2-3x retail price. Just my $0.02

Awesome! If Digicel Jamaica is going to carry it, Digicel Curacao is probably going to follow soon. They are indeed going to price it ridiculously ofcourse
An S3 still goes for Naf 950 (about $430)
    A Z10 still goes for Naf 1100 (about $610)
    Ridiculous!

The only other person other than myself that I know I live in Ja and use a BB is my wife, oh and a good friend of mine so that's 2 persons I know. Good to know that they're are fellow BB users in Ja.

I've never bought a phone from a carrier here, I eirther wait until I go up or know someone coming down. Digicel, Lime and the few shops that sell phones here, price them wwwwaaaayyyyy too aggressive. But then again it's really the value of the the Jamaican dollar, because US$900 is not 100k in alot of other countries. That's a whole other topic though.
