    these days we are coming across the figures 8000 units have been sold. seems it was all a fake hype on behalf of the Blackberry apparatus.

    8000 units, that is obviously too low. I guess here in China alone (where it is not officially sold and almost no one has ever heard about blackberry） it has sold at around 1000 units on Taobao, the leading E-commerce platform.

    No. 8000 is number of passport /classic sold by ATT/Verizon in last Q. What means 2 weeks of sales with almost no presence in corporate shops, mostly online buys.

    The number 8000 can't bet true without adding certain limitations (AT&T only?). However
    A) the real number of sold devices will be low (Perhaps, John Chen will reveal it on Friday).
    B) The question "Will John Chen decide to make BlackBerry a software-only company?" can clearly be answered with "Yes", if there won't be a surprising change in sale figures which I guess is not going to happen.
