I was ready to send back my third device when I read your post few minutes ago. I did it, I twisted my passport slightly and the screen went back to its original seating. Great advise, Thank you.

Hello there I own a Passport as well I purchased mine a couple of days after initial launch first week in October 2014 via direct shopblackberry. I experienced the screen lift in January 2015. BlackBerry at first suggested for me to get it repaired at any cell phone repair shop. I was a bit insulted and explained I bought it there that they should fix it. I was transferred about and finally asked to send a pic to them of the screen lift. They called me back and advised that they would repair or replace my device at no charge but that I would be without my device for a couple of weeks (RMA). They immediately sent a box with instructions and off my Passport went. To my surprise they replaced my device and I haven't had the screen lifting issue again. So far I haven't experienced any other issues. If it lifts again try a cell phone repair store to see if they can repair it for you. Good luck

I believe that BlackBerry hasn't been solved the problem of 'screen lifting'. First and foremost, they never acknowledged the problem as design and factory faulty related issue...

My passport still gets pretty hot in the top right hand corner. I'm pretty sure it's only a matter of time before it pops loose again. This is my second Passport since I bought it in March of this year. Hope they figure it out soon, I'd hate to have to change phones. This is my favorite phone I've owned so far.

That's a very nice brand new Passport you have, I totally don't see a problem with it.

How does this **** happen and make it through QC?

Yep, BlackBerry will never solve this issue.... because they don't care.

Their focus is not on customer feedback or experience.

Falling sales, selling off property and sacking staff to try to make it look like they are increasing GP - not fooling anyone, hence the falling share peice.

I doubt BlackBerry will be here by the end of 2016. No vision, no focus, and the greatest sin a company can make - not listening to customers.

It really isn't a problem for anyone. Apples next ios has a filing system and has the ability to attach multiple file types to emails - therefore, nobody needs a BlackBerry as ios is pretty much as secure and it's a platform with a guaranteed future - unlike BlackBerry.

    Well done Chen.

Among others, I have also experienced a few very VERY slight sign of a screen lift on the upper right corner. So I read through the thread and read about "twisting". Put it on a flat table, and sure enough, whenever I pressed on the upper left corner, the phone would lift on the lower right corner, meaning that the upper left corner was twisted towards the inside of the phone. Since the glass screen is straight, it raised out of the frame by a millimeter (I'm very anal about my phone esthetic) .after 5 minutes of gently twisting and re-evaluating, I have made the condition better.

My theory for screen lifting is people used cases that grips right between screen and side frame. So from time to time it make screen loose.

You mean like the OEM hardshell? I highly doubt that, if that is the case BB is even more at fault since they designed/authorized that cases release.

+ the fact that i picked up my passport at 11am PST, posted these pictures around 1:30pm on the blackberry support forums.

Nope, the OEM case front end doesn't reach the gap that i point out. But i've seen some cases that do reach the gap.

BlackBerry did not fix the screen lift issue.

I received a red BlackBerry Passport directly from BlackBerry in Waterloo. After 2 weeks the top right corner of screen lifted. Manufacture date was April 2015. This Passport was to replace my previous red Passport which had issues with keyboard.

My mistake for giving up my carrier issued black Passport for the red one. My black one was flawless. Everything about it was perfect. That one was manufactured October 2014 I believe. Every Passport I bought from shopblackberry has been nothing but issues.

I'm going to return this current red Passport and just go with a blue Classic.

Nope your theory is incorrect. I have never used a case on my Passport. I have never twisted it, I have never sat on it, I have never dropped it. My screen lifted as soon as the top right back side of Passport heated up.

Again, BlackBerry did not solve the 'screen lifting' problem because they never acknowledged it on the first place...

Exactly! And what does that tell you? The fact is this, the man who runs the company is aware of this issue (I have personally told him and he had one of his staff contact me about it)

The fact, in my humble opinion is that the senior management have no intention of ensuring BB continues to support its users by making phones that are fit for purpose.

I have already stated my company is by no means a large consumer of BB hardware, but we are one of the Worlds leading independent providers of security assessments and efficacy assurance (to much bigger companies than BB) - and we use BB because its secure - the bad guys (threat actors as we call them) don't like what we do, so we get hit about 250 times / day, in an attempt to prevent us from revealing threats and providing solutions.

BBs lack of response to out communications, our offers of help has lead me to make the decision to drop them. Once the next version of ios is released, we will swap to Apple - as I suspect the vast majority of BB users will.

I take no joy in saying this, but BB is finished. I cant reveal the name, but another user, who has security at there core has just told me that due to the behaviour of BB, they have no faith in them and have dropped them already, because in their words "it does not make sense to invest in a technology that has no future" - no future, not because of BB10, but due to the way the company is being "run".

Reminds me of a scene from "Black Adder"

"Bob Parkhurst: I want to see how a war is fought, so badly.

Captain Blackadder: Well, you've come to the right place, Bob. A war hasn't been fought this badly since Olaf the Hairy, high chief of all the vikings, accidentally ordered 80,000 battle helmets with the horns on the inside."

Or another line from Blade Runner "Tine to die"

Clearly, all this is just my humble opinion - but I still maintain with Chen at the helm, BB will no longer build handsets in 2016......

Yeah, sad to see. Was hoping that BBOS was going to be the phone I stayed with. Hopefully I can get a replacement easy enough that will not be such a terrible QA job.

I think, the new silver colored passport(oslo, dallas as whatever you know) is the answer of they are aware of the problem. When you check the images you can see they cover the whole screen with metal frame that attached the main chase for avoiding screen lifting issue.

If it was simply the lip, AT&T Passport wouldn't have screen lifting, because it has the lip too. But the AT&T screens lift as well.
