    13 - 14th September for Passport
    24 - 25th November Classic

Apple iphone 6 is suggested to start on September 9th

Basically the earlier the passport / classic is on the market the better

If Apple is releasing the iPhone 6 on the 9th, the I would guess the last week of September. If they release the Passport early in the week and post better than expected results on the 27th it could be BlackBerry's week in the media

Also for people posting about 'advertising', I hope you're not expecting BlackBerry to be advertising in the mainstream media. If this is a professional phone, I would think it would be advertised in the appropriate space (i.e Business, Medical and other 'professional' print/TV outlets).

Just my two cents. Especially since we're talking about the Passport and iPhone in the same thread when Chen has already stated that this phone is not a consumer phone.

So Samsung for the Galaxy Note on September the 3rd, Apple's new iphone on the 9th and Blackberry's Passport .... the 12th?
Maybe they can afford after all the outsider position even in the presentation order?
If it's the case it will be two weeks of fire for the blogs and tech sites!

I think they should fill all the channels as much as possible with pre-orders starting Friday August 15th for delivery on 03-Sep. Once the early adopters get flooded with units to review it will spread the hype to give others something to think about. I'm fairly certain people will not hold off if the competitors are ready and BlackBerry is not.

We need rave reviews ASAP. If they are going after businesses they should also offer a "smartphone" trade in program to offset some of the large upfront cost I expect it will command. That and it will help companies justify changing their fleet back to BlackBerry.

I'd say November 7th for the Classic, which will hopefully coincide but absolutely not be later than BES 12.

Same day the iPhone launches. That way many snarky tech and (non-tech) journalists will not be able to resist to write about the Passport, as the antithesis to the ever elongating glass slab and camping-outside-of-stores lines.

Regardless of their premature conclusions, it would be free coverage and association with a very popular peer.

Normally I would say, be strategic and release your product before a strong competitor does.

But in this case, I believe BlackBerry should take the formidable competition, head on and show confidence in the Passports unique features.

Galaxy Note 4 vs iPhone 6 vs BlackBerry Passport, makes for great tech blog headlines.

And this time, BlackBerry has come to the fight with the right tool.

using that same idea, it should be late august but i'm guessing very early september..

IMO, the Passport should be announced before or in the same time frame as Apple and Samsung. If BlackBerry intends on cutting into their sales, they need to go head to head against them and show off their new baby. Just like we here are going to get a Passport regardless of what the new Apple and Samsung phones can do and offer. They also have their supporters. Regardless of what the Passport offers. But they are a lot of undecided shoppers out there. That's why, IMO, BlackBerry needs to let the cat (Passport) out the bag asap.

And I also think the packaging should be as creative as possible. I vote for a package resembling an actual passport. A front flap that opens up to see the actual device with some of the innovative features described. Just Wow the consumer as soon as they see the device in its package. In fact, all marketing material should take this approach. Large passports in carrier stores and so fourth.

But that's just my thoughts. What do I know?!!! Lol

IFA Berlin kicks off on September the 4th, and Huawei will present some new devices.
    So for now:
    09/03 Samsung Galaxy Note
    09/04 Huawei
    09/09 Apple new phones (allegedly)

I would prefer Blackberry to anticipate the Apple launch (like all others seem to do), i don't think taking the scene in last position would be a great idea...

I would personally have a fully blitzing super launch on the 10th of September, and make it available in stores on the 17th lol. That would take some thunder, only if a little form the Apple event. BlackBerry needs as much media coverage as possible. Cheers !

Is BlackBerry going to move their announcement up? I thought there was going to be an event on Sep 12th. It would be smart to get it out as early in Sep as possible, though.

I don't think we are going to see much of a specific launch date given that there will probably be a limited number of carriers in a limited number of markets. I doubt there will be technology reviewers doing any reviews if it isn't immediately launched in the US.
