Just received my Passport yesterday and have a dilemma. I ordered a sim card cutter weeks ago and now the day has come. Do I cut my Z30 sim down from micro to nano or just go to an AT&T store and have them give me a new nano sim?

My hesitation is that if I cut it wrong then I'm screwed until I can get to an AT&T store or the geniuses at AT&T will some how get it mixed up.

    Any thoughts?

Cut it yourself would be a waste of a cutter if you get one from them. Just buy an adapter to switch back and forth between phones.

What is that?! That my friend is my BlackBerry Passport.

I tried cutting but I realised that the nano sim is still a little thinner. Ended up paying s$35 for a sim card after ruining my old sim card!

When I got the z10, I got the Sim cut from normal to micro and started using it. Since the phone was heating up and battery drained real quick, I took the phone to the BlackBerry repair centre and they suggested I get a micro Sim from the carrier since the cut Sim might have been messing up with the connectors in the Sim tray. The z10 worked great ever since.

So, I would recommend that you get a nano Sim from your carrier for the passport.

I just purchased a new nano sim and got a nano to micro adapter. This way I can switch back to my old Z10 if needed.

Getting a New Nano seems to be the consensus. Going to AT&T

I ordered a nano from T-Mobile for a buck (really) in advance of my Passport showing up, and switched it myself on my account via their web site. It took about 2 minutes to be recognized; I have an adapter so I can switch back.

Cutting it probably would have worked fine but for a buck.... why?

PS: I have cut down full-size to micro several times, by hand with snips, without incident.... YMMV.

The cutter I got for like $9 came with the adapter and sandpaper, so I could clean it up and thin it out. Works great now in both my Z10 and Passport.

not only did I cut mine... I constantly switch between my q10 and paSsport.... a nano sim will work fine in a q10... you just have to slip it in correctly... it doesn't budge

last wednesday i got my passport from amazon, after unboxing i found that have to cut my sim to use my new device so cuted micro to nano by local retailer and its working fine . but the sales person at that store suggested to get new nano sim from operator as this cutting sim is temporary solution and it effects device performance

Buy a new one. This way in case you ever need to switch back to the Z30 you can do so through your online account.

From att, you can get a nano sim for free.....just do it.

If you need an adapter too then just go to walmart and buy an att byop (bring your own phone) kit. It's $9.99 and comes with a brand new nano sim you can self activate via text message without changing your number and a nano to micro sim adapter is included in the package

I would go to the store and get a new sim. Damaging your phone is not worth the couple of dollars saved.

I'm with Rogers. When my Passport ships I plan on cutting it first. If I screw up I don't mind paying the 10 bucks for one.

T-Mobile gave me a new SIM for free. I'm guessing they thought I was going to move from my Z30 to an iPhone 6, but they didn't ask so I didn't tell. In the system my Passport shows up as an unknown phone (so did my Z30).

Just cut it, kinda scary to do but it should works fine. In fact, I cut my normal SIM to micro SIM using micro SIM cutter, and then later to nano SIM using scissors. Zero problem.
