I'm really enjoying my Passport, but I have noticed that the contacts screen doesn't include the alphabet shortcut down the right side for quick navigation. So far, I haven't found a place to turn this on.

Can someone enlighten me?

Why would u need to do that? Just press the name of the person u want right when u get into the contact screen, pops up right away.

I miss it too.

I found it to be more useful/quicker than pressing keys because I have my list sorted by COMPANY name and avoid doing several key presses. Preferred the alphabet on the side for quick jumping in the contact list.

I feel it is useful for large contact lists.

Hopefully it will get added to the next update with slightly larger fonts

This feature is available on the touch only devices, not on the ones with a physical keyboard.

Those with the physical keyboard should try to press a key on the keyboard to jump in the list. Can anybody confirm?

Pressing a key in the contacts app will enter this key in a search field and present you the first (and subsequent) contacts that contain this key. Entering a second key will bring you the contacts with this combination of keys. And so forth. Pretty basic search functionality.
