So, why does one expect BlackBerry intends to terminate BBID? First, they told nothing about BBID in their last statement; second, it is unlikely that they are gonna shut down BBM. I think we should read the statement literally: on 12/31/2019 BBW and some mythical BB10 "support" will stop, nothing more.

If the BBID server has been shut down, then we couldn't able to login to BlackBerry server anymore, and our handsets will become a dumb phone.

Well, maybe not quite a dumb phone. I think you would still be able to install native apps via .bar files and Android apps with .apks. Correct me if I'm wrong.

The problem would appear if you wanted to wipe your device (either because you were experiencing problems or wanted to sell it) or reinstall from an autoloader. Apparently, you wouldn't be able to do either of those things if they shut down the BBID servers.

So you'll be fine for as long as the OS runs well, but if you experience serious OS problems, reinstalling the OS won't be an option.

That being said, I've never personally reached that point with either an OS7 or BB10 device.

That's true. They didn't say anything about shutting down BBID. I hope you're right, but won't be counting on it. It would be nice if they kept a BBID server going out of the goodness of their hearts.

Regarding BBID and BBM, as I understand it, BBM for Android and iOS are being run separately by a licensee. So BBM may not factor into any decision about keeping the BBID servers for legacy devices going.

I will vote for the SE. I have both the OG and the SE and like them equally the same but the SE is more eye candy for me.
