While searching for a 128GB SD card on eBay I found some memory cards for as low as $7. The higher value cards are priced up to $72. Has anyone ever had any problems with cheap 128 GB memory cards in the $7 range? Are they worth it? Also, do Samsung SD cards work on Blackberries???

I have a Samsung 128 GB card, which was about 65 and which works well (20% already full with a lot of music and videos).

Often the very cheap cards are packaged wrong. May be very small storage card in a different pack. Stay away is the best advice.

High likelihood the cheap cards are low speed and relabeled as a brand name card. Plus unless you have regular backup practices why go thru the headache of cheap knockoffs.

I would not recommend Samsung. I have 32 gb class 6. The data gets deleted automatically sometimes. I have faced this twice

Do not buy the cheap cards. They are simply 4gb or 8gb cards hacked and labeled as 128gb. They'll show up as 128gb on your computer, but you won't be able to actually access those files on the sd card. They'll come up as corrupt.

I bought a cheap 128gb card some time ago & it doesn't work well in my Passport (nor did it work well in my Note). Couldn't support 1080p video recording, I think. Other files were fine.
I now use it in an old Nikon digital camera. Only records video in low def.

I purchased one of those. Had random write and read errors, finally got my money back from ebay. The card was supposed to be a SanDisk 128, class 10, but was total crap. Figure the seller was a scammed who was subsequently banned from ebay. When a deal seems too good to be true, it usually isn't true. Got a 64 mb from tiger direct for a good price and have been satisfied with its performance.

Don't do it, you will loss your data when you go over the "real" ( not falsely stated size ) storage limit. Always buy from from a Trusted Dealer, not some small reseller that can Magically sale stuff for a third of the price as your Local Electronics Giant or Amazon.

So Op's as you have read. Stay away from cheap SD card. Amazon has some weekly deals that you should check.

They flash the ROM chips to think and report they have 128gb. But they really only have 2 or 4. When you pass the 4gb point it corrupts. It's a scam that's been going on years.

I bought a LEXAR (Crucial) 64GB chip for my Passport and it has been working great thus far (Feb. 2015 purchase). It cost me $35 @ Amazon. Currently it is $33. 45MB/s Read and about 24MB/s Write, Class 10 chip. The 128GB version sadly is $90 (although 2.3x faster).

So here are the two that I recommend considering:

    $50 PNY 128GB, 60MB/s Read, Model #P-SDUX128U160G-GE
    http://www.amazon.com/PNY-Performanc...UvbUpU12008270

    $45 Patriot LX 128GB, 70MB/s Read, Model #PSF128GMCSDHXC10
    http://www.amazon.com/Patriot-128GB-...UvbUpU12008270

I prefer the PNY because they are really reliable and well-built. They are [now] made in South Korea, not China like SanDisk and most others which helps attribute to the improved reliability. I never heard of Patriot, but it has excellent marks with Amazon reviewers.

This man knows what's up. I know it may seem great to get a 128gb Micro SD for a ridiculous $7 but you always get what you pay for. Either it will be extremely slow, break after a couple weeks or it will actually be a 16GB card that's been branded 128gb.
