And that charger is a lot cheaper at the moment too.

BUT...how does the passport sit in the charger? Does it sit well? is the connection moveable/flexible?
I do it, doesn't hurt the Passport at all my Playbook charger is rated at 1.8 Amps at 5 volt.

The Passport charger that came with put's out 1,3 Amps at 5 volts, so it's not that big of a difference to begin with.

The Passport uses a Snapdragon 801 soc and is thus compatible with Qualcomm's quick charge technology which can deliver up to 3 Amps at 5, 9 or 12 volts so it shouldn't hurt the Passport's components.

Moreover BlackBerry has, in the past, confirmed the that the Playbook charger can be used with the BlackBerry Smartphone and the charge rate might be throttled depending on the battery your phone uses:

Using higher amperage rated chargers. like 1.8amps, 2.0amps or 2.1 amps is perfectly safe. Lithium ions are highly controlled during the charging process and all chargers have an ic chip in the block that prevents overcharging. It also controls the length of trickle charging. Use higher amperage trickle chargers in a normal temperature range and all will be fine. However NEVER use a high amp charger in a high temp situation like a hot car as high heat can degrade batteries not the charger itself.

I do it occasionally and charge time is relatively very similar with Playbook charger being slightly quicker.

I was at Princess Auto in Winnipeg yesterday and they had a bin full of PlayBook chargers, selling for $5.00 each. Picked up two!
Awesome! Went and got one today

Hell, i've even been using my Playbook charger to charge my temporary Lumia 635 before I get my AT&T Passport. Works wonders!

The best part is the length of the cable, it's just awesome
