Why does my passport tell me that I am not using the original cable/charger if i use any other (non cheap) cable but the original 1.3A charger. How does the phone recognize this ? Does this even have any effect? And if I use a 1.0A charger (Samsung) it tells me the same.
    Should I care about this?

Just disregard the notice. Any charger that isn't a Blackberry branded charger will give you that message. I believe these chargers have some circuit in them to tell the device its an OEM charger. Exactly why we see this message when using a non OEM charger, is not exactly known to me. Maybe someone else can chime in on exactly why.

I have used a generic 2amp charger on occasion when out and about and I always get that message, disregard and it charges just fine.
