Most optimal would be 40%-60%, but really if you just keep it from draining under 25% most of the time you are good for a long time.

At least I can't be bothered with putting my time on planning how I charge my phone.

Best advice I have is stop paying attention to the battery, tweaking it, etc. The more aware of it you are, the shorter the life seems, imo. Just use the phone and generally don't let it drop below 20%.

In theory it is a bad idea to charge to 100% every time. In practice though, I doubt if will make much difference if you only keep a device a couple of years.

Also, I think I read somewhere that most devices automatically stop before reaching 100% anyways. Just because it tells you it's at 100% doesn't mean it actually is.

Just enjoy your device and don't worry to much about battery charging! The device has features to protect the battery.

It's like people that keeps looking at the available RAM then wonders why battery life is low.

+1. Don't mind charging your phone full. And don't even mind charging it overnight. What you should keep in mind is not letting your battery drain every time. It's good to drain it once in a while especially if the battery indication is acting weird, but on normal occasions, don't let it go past below 10%.

Several have already said avoid running the battery down very low. And to use the device they way you need to use the device but avoid running the battery down very low. +1 to each of those.

If someone also said that it's good to top off the battery when you can, then also +1 to all who pointed it out. If none have pointed that out, then here it is. With lithium batteries it is better to keep them topped off. Don't obsess about it, just try to do it when you have the opportunity.

Personally, my opinion is if you are working at a desk, plug your device in on either a wall charger or charge it on USB from the computer. Charge the device when you sleep. When you are traveling and you have a chance to charge the device, do it, because you don't know what may happen later and you don't want to be in the situation where you need to charge the device and you can't do it. (I would even carry a charging bank when traveling.)

Agreed, in theory it's not ideal. Realistically speaking I don't think the negative effects are going to noticed much for the effort exerted. If my battery starts to show a noticeable difference in lifespan I will buy another.

Seems to drain faster after a full nights charge and seems to keep it longer if it is occasionally placed in the desktop cradle charging from my PC. I could be mistaken.
I place it in the cradle arbitrarily throughout the day at work and again "seems" to last longer into the night and most of the next day. Hard to say since it's not uncommon for an OS update to mess up a good battery.
