I have noticed that I don't look at the awesome lock screen as much as I would like to. Whenever I am turning on the device, I simply swipe up from the bottom of the screen, which takes me directly to my lock combination.

I know I can use the power button or swipe up and then down again, but for some reason I can't seem to get it right every time.

Is there a way to change the behavior of the swipe up gesture to activate the lock screen instead?

    Thanks!

Not possible, but instead of hitting that powerbutton, you can also hit the "U" key!

Yep...I use the "U" and "Q" shortcuts all of time. The Q shortcut turns off all notifications. Very helpful when going into a meeting. Then the Q also turns all notifications back to normal after the meeting.

Passport. It will take you places.

Touch the bottom of the screen, do the swipe movement but hold the finger on the glass. Then you can see if there are notifications or what time it is... if you want to unlock swipe further up and lift your finger. If you want the phone back into standby just hold you finger down and swipe back to the bottom.

I hope the instructions are understandable...

These are some pretty good tips.

Can't seem to get the "Q" to work. Do I get a notification or an icon indicating it is toggling?

I couldn't get the swipe gesture to work before, because I didn't know I had to swipe up to the middle of the screen. I was used to a short swipe.

I use this feature all the time, very useful and more convenient than toggling it in the quick settings menu.

From the lock screen, pressing "U" or any of the number keys (ZERSDFWXC0) will wake up the screen. That is because the "U+Enter" combination will unlock the device and the number keys can be used to dial an emergency number. On my device it works for 112. Don't know what it would be in the States, maybe 911. Try it.

A fast, short swipe to the middle of the screen or thereabouts will display the lock screen without having to swipe back down. I do it all the time to see my lock screen notifications.

May I assign a shortcut key to pick up incoming calls when device is locked? Thanks.

    Only U works for me.
Found out something interesting too. You don't have to press U+Enter at the same time, you can press U, then Enter separately (unless you wait too long between key presses).

You van modify your shortcuts by going in 'Settings' then 'Shortcuts and Speed Dial'

Yap...it is....but it would have been really nice if BlackBerry allowed us to to choose what to be toggled. I always use in my phone in "Phone Calls Only". But in Q, only normal and Silent is available
But anyways good to make silent easily
