Should've done your due diligence with both your phone and provider.
    interesting.

Reflashed it several times, changed SIM, brought to service - nothing helped. My passport still doesn't work.

well I felt the same frustration...and immense relief when the fix was so simple...and accidental! if the problem is something else I feel your pain.
those 2 or 3 days on android were the worst!!

Broke out my Passport last week just to switch things up a bit, and Passport does have issues connecting to network at times.

When using my Classic with the same SIM card in the same home, work and other outings I never get the RED X signal like I do when using the Passport.

This problem is not fixable. I went back to my really old Z10 while I look for passport. Turns out it is just as good at the iPhone 10.

Buy a new phone, preferably NOT a Passport.

If rebooting your phone and checking your phone doesn't help, you're running into a known unsolved problem. With PRIV last year, similar problem was partially fixed by running phone on 2G,3G,4G-HSPA.

In other words turning off the LTE. Eventually, the carrier and BB developed a software fix but that isn't going to happen for a 3-4 year old device on almost EOL OS...

Purchase a new phone. That's what I did. The problem seems to be with the cell antenna module.

The way I look at it is like an old car. It served me well while it was working, but I'm not going to put $2000 into fixing a vehicle that is worth only $300. Sometimes you just gotta let things go.

I have an android now. I miss BB10, but I miss my old Firebird at times too. Economics vs Emotion.

It would not hurt to try the 10.3.3.3057 autoloader for your device. May not help but what have you got to lose?

Can you turn off LTE in settings and just use 3G-4G?

LTE is same 4G. I think the best choice is 3G-2G

It's not the same. With BB on GSM 4G can also be HSPA which is 3G enhanced and called 4G. It's slower than LTE.

The solution I'm describing was used last year for PRIVs that were getting "No Service" message. Problem is carrier based. As carriers are repurposing 2G equipment, multiple OEMs are experiencing problems with older devices.

Than why only some device is affected. Not all who use the same provider. I used to have those carrier problem too before this Antena problem come about. No blackberry logo, must toggle the airplane mode until data came back. This time is different. I think it's the hardware.
