As you alluded to in opening post, there's Miracast built into the TV. Maybe try that out again w/ both devices on the 5 ghz wifi?
Yes, that is where the TV just gives me the option to only decline.

Right. I was wondering if maybe you could try again on 5 ghz. Both TV and phone need to be on WiFi for miracast to work.

Only other thought I have is whether there's a firmware update for your TV.

No - I'm talking about using the YouTube app on your TV to watch on your TV. The way you wrote the post sounds like you are trying to "cast" YT from your Passport TO your tv which, to me, wouldn't make much sense since the WebOs interface contains a YT link or app. Sorry if I've misunderstood lol.

True. Just easier to type a search on the phone and then cast it. Might just purchase a keyboard for the TV. Just not sure it would work within the YouTube app.

Doesn't your tv come with a remote/ air mouse that you can select and launch apps with?

You could try this Android app on your phone: https://apkpure.com/remote-for-lg-tv/com.lgremote.view. It requires Android 4.1 and above, which should play well with the Android runtime on BB10.

TV is up to date. I really didn't want to hook up the TV via wifi as ethernet is faster and doesn't degrade.

Understood but it's likely the reason you can't mirror your PP screen on your TV, but hopefully using the Youtube Web os app is a more desirable route.

Yes, they should. Just don't understand why I can't hook up. They see each other. Go figure.

I think you are misunderstanding the capabilities of the device. You will NOT be able to cast FROM your TV to your Passport so there is no need to do anything with the Passport. We are just saying to use the existing apps on your new tv to do anything webwise. Your Passport will only stream video/pics/music to your tv. The devices DO see each other but will only work in one direction ie from Passport.

Yes, I will have to use the WebOS for Youtube. Just trying to see what the maximum capabilities of our Passports are. I have been using it solid for 2 days and even with the limitations, it is still a capable device in 2019. Pleasantly surprised.

Yes, just downloaded. Good to have a remote on the phone from time to time. Thank you,

The best way to use it is through DLNA to view pics from your Passport onto a big screen tv or to play a favorite music playlist (when you have a party etc) on your tv/soundbar or to display your boring vacation videos to uncaring relatives (sorry about that-just kidding ). Everything else is just through your WebOs 4.0 tv interface.

But I agree, other than a complete app store and an old browser, the Passport still does have many capabilities. You can tell, however, that the devs could have polished the Media Sharing section of the OS. It's lacking in a few areas.

Very true. Just sorry I didn't pick this puppy up in 2014. Had just purchased the iphone 5 or 6 (one or the other), and not 3 weeks later, saw the Passport! Just bad timing.

    Best to use a cable.

Passport will support a Miracast dongle if you can still find one.
