I was in the Carphone Warehouse here in the UK over the weekend looking at the Passport, which was at the very front of the Store I might add, together with the Classic, when an assistant came over to offer his assistance.

I was ready to tell him that I wasn't in the market for an iPhone or Android when he said he thought the Passport was a great phone and was I also interested in looking at the new Leap, which he then produced from his pocket as he was using it as his personal phone.

I declined the invitation on the Leap as I currently have a Z10 to which he replied that he was thinking of getting the Passport for himself as it was the best Blackberry, he was even up on the rumors about the Slider!

This forum has a lot of threads detailing carriers and other stores dismissing Blackberry so I thought it only fair to relate my good experience.

Has anyone else experienced this recently or did I happen to get the only Salesman who is also a Crackberry Member?

The CarPhone Warehouse in Selfridges (top department store, London, UK - similar to Harrods but nicer) is very pro-BlackBerry (it's where I got my Passport from), but that may be because it is bang next to the BlackBerry demonstration area! There's a BlackBerry guy who takes you through all of the phones in the demonstration area, and then walks you across to CarPhone Warehouse so you can buy your new 'unlocked' device.

All the CarPhone Warehouse salesman has to do then, is to try and sign you up for the highest commission carrier contract!

I guess you are right about the one in Selfridges regards the proximity to the BlackBerry area, I went there when I was looking for my Z10.

The one I was in, was in Bluewater, Kent, so perhaps they have a BlackBerry specialist in all their stores. Who knew.

I visited two carphone warehouse stores near me and in the first one they had display models but the staff didn't look interested in them and didn't know much about them, in the second smaller store they didn't have display models but the saleswoman knew about the passport and said she was interested in one herself, I ordered the passport from that shop as was my intention when I went in and her knowing about it helped me definitely make the purchase, think she should work where they have the actual models and boost sales.

I think it is very hit and miss, I have just had a call from them to tell me my contract is up for renewal, however the salesman was absolutely clueless, he hadn't even heard of the passport and told me it wasn't on the system!

I told him it was on their website and what the monthly cost was, he told me he couldn't help me and said he would leave it with me to find one?

How mad is that?
