I have a Passport running the latest OS 10.3.3.1435 and I'm trying to mount it on my MS Surface Go in order to load apk files onto the file system, but the device manager returns a mount error when I plug it in...

My Surface is out of S mode, running WIndows 10 Home 18363.959, and I've installed the Blackberry software suite (Link, Blend). My thought is that the usb cable I'm using to connect isn't adequate, but I remember being able to access the desktop software wizard when I first plugged my Passport in, so it must be with the Desktop software.

I've tried switching to USB Mass Storage Mode, but it still doesn't appear on the computer. Does any one know how to troubleshoot this?

To have to enable the dangerous SMB v1 on Windows first.

So long as you do that temporarily, and on a network behind a good firewall, I would consider the risk minimal, though definitely non-zero. Just remember to disable the protocol any time you're not actually transferring files. It's very dangerous to leave it enabled all the time.

I went ahead and re-installed the device software and that fixed the problem. Thank you!
