    Hi there,

I have finally received my Passport from Blackberry, and had it activated today. I have a couple of what I'm assuming are rather basic questions for which I can't seem to find the answers anywhere so I apologise and ask for a bit of patience.

I am trying to figure out where the setting is to select basic ringtone and text notification sounds. All phones I've ever had have had around a dozen or so default ringtones and notification sounds that you can choose from. Where do I find these, please? I don't need to set up custom ringtones for different contacts, and prefer not using current songs. As much as I love Led Zep, I don't want to be hearing it incessantly.

Also, are you able to use one of your own jpg or bmp images for the wallpaper? If so, does it need to be converted to a different format?

Lastly, I saw in the Passport's specs that it is able to support microSD cards up to 128GB, however the manual says the limit is 64GB. Could someone please tell me which is the correct maximum? Are there any specific brands that are being recommended for taking video with the Passport? I am looking at a Lexar High-Performance MicroSDXC 633x 64GB U1 and thought that should be sufficient, but wanted to double-check.

    Thank you very much!

    Update:
Oops, I have another question to add to the list. The USB cable that came with the Passport is so short as to be unusable. Do most of the USB to mini-USB cables these days charge at the same rate and voltage, meaning that I could use another one interchangeably? For when I want to charge from a wall plug, could I use the charger that came with my Playbook?

    the answers to your questions:

    1. Swipe downwards from top of your device-select settings-select notifications-then all ringtones can be found. For specific application ringtone changes (such as text message, bbm etc) click "Normal" then click "Customize App Notifications" .
    2. Yes you can use any picture you choose for wallpaper-again go to settings-then Display and at top click "select home screen wallpaper" --choose your picture
    3. The Passport will support a 128 gb sd card and your choice sounds ok!

Have fun with your new device!

    Thank you for the response.

    1. I had almost found it. I had checked Notifications, but hadn't thought to go into Applications. Now that I've tried them they are rather more...basic...to put it delicately, than I had expected. Is there any reason why I can't (or shouldn't) convert a flac file to either a wav or mp3 and use that? Would I just transfer the file into a music folder on the Passport, or does it need to be in a separate directory?

    2 & 3. Thank you very much!

Playbook charger should be fine to use. Or a longer cable can be plugged in to your factory supplied charger

Yes you can use any sound/music file. If you go into the apps as I detailed above eg. phone/then click Ringtone you will notice the various pre-loaded ringtones and you will also see further down the list "Browse music". Select that and you can select any ringtone/music file that you put on your phone. I have all my music/ringtones etc on Media card/music but you can also just put them in your device music folder, doesn't matter. The "File Manager" is excellent on the Passport and in BB10 as a whole. It is one of the best features of BB10 IMHO.

Thank you very much, Hercules. I'll use any of my USB cables for connecting to the computer, and the Playbook charger for plugging into the wall. I wasn't sure whether different voltages, or charging rates, would be an issue given the size of the Passport's battery.

Thank you Brookie. I've just discovered that my media player will automatically convert and make 30-second clips from flac files, so that is quite convenient. The greater difficulty will be figuring out which songs to use. For now I'll just transfer a couple until my media card arrives (it was a rather good price on Amazon.com, making it worth the wait).
