OK, but why would it update on the same day every month? Why wouldn't it update when they are deleted?

Because the update software checks the servers on a fixed schedule.

Telus has not pushed anything in almost 2 years.

    Hey Crusader,

Pretty sure this is not system apps (at least not the deletable kind) but just in case, have you deleted any?

I did try many apps from BBW and deleted them when they didn't meet my expectations. Examples would be, Facebook 10, Maps, Browsie, etc... I did delete LinkedIn and Facebook that loaded with the OS. Can't really see that being the culprit...

Any system app. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc, etc.
Deleting these apps doesn't trigger an OS software update.

It doesn't. It hasn't on any of my bb10 devices. I just did a manual software update check on my Passport and there are no updates. None.

Haven't tried recently, but I can't tell you how many times I kept getting Facebook reinstalled after an "update" in the past.

I get it all back after a fresh install of an OS, of course, but not after deleting said apps.

Always used to do that (certainly for FB, Linkedin, Evernote etc) but I haven't done a reload for ages.

The only thing I get shoved back if I delete it is the Bell mobile app.
So I would conclude that different carriers decide to push back different things, and Crusader must be with a carrier that pushes some of those apps back.

No apps install when I update. But I will watch it like a hawk when it happens again in November.

Well, like I said, Telus hasn't pushed anything new in years. So it can ONLY be replacing something.

So, here is the history of the phone, hopefully this helps. It is originally a Telus locked phone (circa 2015), I then had Telus unlock it and am using a Rogers sim in it. So, not sure who is pushing back these updates. Also, I have not deleted the Rogers apps that installed when I put in the sim and to boot, they do not work.

You are likely dealing with Rogers then. Same story though - they haven't pushed anything new in years either.

Update. Mic fixed. Replaced top mic/speaker assembly and bottom mic (by USB port) and mic is now working as expected!

PS - bottom mic is from an iPhone 4 or 5 as it is the same mic used.
