Hello folks. Have researched this annoyance and it seems the newest OS updates had fixed it. I am on the latest update and wiped the phone 2 weeks ago. Today when I try to make a call, the other party cannot hear me unless I turn the speaker on. The phone screen goes black as I approach my ear, so that seems to be working properly. Can anyone offer a fix short of wiping again? I did blow out the ports with compressed air 2-3 days ago. Thanks,

PS- I can hear my own voice in the ear piece, and the recipient cannot.

Having similar problems. Only I can't hear the other party unless I have them on speaker. They can hear me regardless. Wiped the phone, still nothing. This problem is on my keyone. I'm only on the Passport forums as I've just purchased one yesterday

Someone had suggested replacing ear peace. However if your having similar problems, I'm beginning to think it's something with the software? My keyone hasn't updated since July as no new patches have been released.

I'm guessing you tried a hard reboot or two?

Yes. I contacted the original Carrier (Telus) who sent the update 2 days ago and they contacted BlackBerry who said it was a known hardware issue and that I can, for a fee, send it in to a BlackBerry repair center. No thanks! So disappointed as I was really enjoying the phone! On my K2 SE again which I will be selling soon. Not pleased to say the least.

Maybe install BBVE from BB World to test if it actually is a hardware issue?

Just tested and audio recording is very dim. So I selected fail and it sent me to the users guide. Wow! Anyway, still crapped out!

Let's be clear about one thing, any updates you are installing are from 3 years ago. Now I'm asking, when was the last time your Passport worked flawlessly before this latest setback?

The updates are coming from Telus always on the 3rd or 4th of the month. 2 weeks ago I wiped the phone and installed the latest OS. It ran beautifully! The last original Carrier update was on the 3rd of October. I noticed the problem on the very next day. I called Telus and they called BlackBerry. Blackberry stated it is a known hardware issue and that it could be serviced for a fee. Sadly, my beloved Passport is now retired.

So why not use the autoloader again and then disable the carrier updates in the settings? Am I missing something?

Badgerboy77 tried that to no avail apparently.

Settings/Software Updates/options (bottom of screen)/Automatically download and install software updates to OFF position. I just don't see how the carrier can force this through.

But that was his KeyOne, no? Worth a try anyway from my point of view. Though if the hardware test failed there's a relatively slim chance of it fixing the issue.

If you’ve used autoloader for latest BB10 update, you shouldn’t be getting any updates anymore. There haven’t been real actual new BB10 updates in forever. Something appears glitched....

All I know, is that an update arrives monthly like clockwork. Carrier perhaps?

Will wait until next update and see if it reverses.

    @conite

You’re in Canada so any ideas. I can’t believe BB10 hardware showing updates isn’t some glitch...

So what updates are they sending? We are talking about your Passport here aren't we, the one running BB10 which hasn't seen any updates for years?

Or do you have one of the elusive Passports running Android, LOL.

Thanks for the reply. I suspect that something isn’t properly installing and causing further glitches.

OK folks, wiped my Passport and re-installed the latest OS, unfortunately did not fix the call mic issue. Still can only place and receive calls with only the speaker. I'm out of ideas.

So after installing the latest OS I got this update just now. What is it? This is what comes in monthly. Can only answer calls on Speaker, not earpiece.-img_20191007_1048417.jpeg
