Can you simply find an .apk on the web, download it to your device (PassPort), install it to run any Android app?

Sorry if this question seems simplistic. I have read about Snap, Amazon PlayStore, and other 'stores' but am curious to know if you acquire the actual .apk (and there are plenty all over the web) like APTOIDE, can you simply install on your device and run it?

Yes, if you get an apk onto your device or mSD card you can install it.

Thanks for the quick reply. Kind of revolutionary for me.
I mean this changes a lot of misconceptions.

Lack of apps was a significant driver for me to use other platforms (iOS or Android).

I never felt comfortable without the physical qwerty....I'm in my late 40s...always feel the Galaxy S5 or iPhone type devices are for 15 to 30...I know there are exceptions....anyway...cool...
