First, there will be a small update once you insert the sim. Download that update. Next, prepare your contacts to sync, setup emails and socials accounts. Last probably is download a social, productivity and utilities apps. Oh, don't forget the Crackberry app :-)

Before anything else, congrats on your Passport!

As you may have read in the forums, there can be some manufacturer's defect/s. Make sure you check on them meticulously. Examples would be:

    1. Screen lifting
    2. Possible corkscrew torsion of the steel frame (usually noted after several days of use, especially when placed in pockets)
    3. Uneven keys on the keyboard
    4. Backlighting of the keyboard
    5. The stain around the logo at the back (if it bothers you)
    6. Noticeable gap between the steel frame and the screen

The hardware defects are the easiest to see. Next would be the software itself. So once you received your device, abuse its OS to identify problems.

You must be fun at parties. Seems to me that most of the errors you mention above are not caused by manufacturer's defects.
This is why you have warranty.

Back on topic to OP: check Cobalt's post on loading up Google Play.
After loading the latest leak of course.
I'd help you with links, but on this particular device, I'd need to do a few handstands and back flips to accomplish that.

C'mon... please use some of your neurons... or maybe even just the one inside the calvarium. I love BlackBerry, but being truthful to the possibility of all those things I mentioned, it's just common sense to check on them the moment the device arrived. Clearly, the screen shouldn't be lifting up in a matter of several months, weeks, or even on the day of unboxing (yeah there was a case on that) if it wasn't because of a manufacturer's defect given that you use your phone normally and not subjecting it to 'bend test'. Also, twisting of the frame should not be acceptable upon receipt of the device or even for a short period of time of receipt (again, given that you use the phone normally during routine daily activities).

I'm just sorry that some owners of the passport in the forum really encountered these problems. And it's just not acceptable paying for the amount for a substandard device. Blackberry is a reliable company, but 1 in 1000 units may be defective. Even in other brands like Apple, it can happen and seen upon unboxing. Hence the warranty.

Anyway OP, hope your unit is flawless. You're gonna love the Passport!

FIrst install the latest version of Blackberry LINK on your pc. then continue with the setup of your device. However, be warned tho do not under any circumstance sync previous apps or their data as that can corrupt your os.

Device switch is great then continue to sync your calendar and contacts. devices settings is fine but just make sure apps do get switched over and sync'd to your new device.
