Many complaints about this.
Have you tried holding down the shutter until focus is achieved and then letting go to take the shot?
I have. Nothing works. If there's a lot of people complaining it's got to be a software issue. I even thought about getting a brand new Passport, but I'll hold on until there's a solution.

No solution, only one ir to open your passport and change your camera lens

Not necessarily. Many people have connected the update to 10.3.3 and this camera issue.
Someone posted trying to go into camera - settings - continuous focus...not sure if it's a fix or not

Still ****ed with this camera issue. I am not a picture person, however I didn't realize how much I actually used the camera. Is this really a massive problem? Does anyone know of a workaround?

Happened to my Classic after the new OS load. Passport seems fine. I may need to try reloading it but it's not that urgent.

Does this actually work? I don't want to try it until I know it might work.

Randomly, my camera started focusing. I really have no idea whether this is mechanical or software.

Now it's not working. I'm going to have to think about replacing the camera or using my backup Passport.

It really doesn't seem to be a hardware issue. My Leap has not suffered from this symptom.

How can you tell it's not a hardware issue from this? Does the Leap have the same camera? Even if it's the same, they could be from a better batch.
If the Leap has the same issues, that would seem to make it more a software issue.

It was a separate statement. I think this is a software issue as many people have reported they've had it. It'd be very rare that suddenly everyone was having the same hardware issue.

Get your camera replaced.
I guess we have some different opinions.
Don't know if this helps but switching cameras (little icon at bottom of camera image) seems to have awakened my bad camera so it would focus.

I mean switching back and forth.

The camera went bad on my original Passport that was bought when the Passports first came out. This was well before the 10.3.3 update. For some of us, it is a mechanical issue, not software. It seems either the focus mechanism gets stuck or something wears. If the problem is hardware, tapping the side frame of the phone will unstick the lens and the focus will work until the next time it sticks, which may be as soon as your next photo.
I bought a second Passport and it has been working fine.

My pp has always had jank *** pictures. It's straight up embarrassing how 90% of my pictures look. When people ask me to take pictures of them, I either take 100 of them in hopes of a good one, or I'll just use their phones.

Not my case. I used to be very pleased with my Passport's picture quality. This non-focusing issue is new to me. The camera has always taken a couple of seconds to focus but once there pictures would come out nicely.

My camera is still focusing after having been stuck -- or whatever was wrong. Maybe it fell and got jolted unstuck but I also switched from back cam to front cam and back again.

I have the same issue and my original passport is not even updated to the latest OS. Bummer. I thought this is just a phase but it isnt working anymore. The front camera works fine. And I dont like selfies. Real bummer.

This is really curious what the cause is. Hardware/ software or a combination.
Anyone who had the double typing issue on the Passport know that it can be a combination. An update readjusted the keyboard to stop double typing after the keyboard had worn in.

I had an issue where the cursor would jump back, that would happen exclusively on the Whatsapp Android version. I no longer have that issue. I don't know if that's what you're referring to.
I hope the camera issue goes away the same way.

Hey just wanted to suggest fiddling with the resolution sizes a bit, continuous focus, grid lines on/off, etc. Probably trivial but couldn't hurt to try. Then finish it off with a good wipe of the lens. My passport is on the latest software and camera is working good. Almost too good...
