Got cracks all over. What are my chances to replace just the glass, not the whole screen assembly? Spare glass is dirt cheap on ebay.

Well you either have to be one hack of a DIY guy or take it to a specialist. I was pondering if I should get a white glass for my black Passport (and turn it into a full white device by getting a white housing plus keyboard) but separating the glass from the lcd itself is quite tricky and I'd rather not do it. I can dismantled almost any phone very fast, but I would prefer to replace the entire screen rather than mess with that... But to answer your question, it's doable. I think (I'm not sure, though) that only AMOLEDs have the glass fuzed with the display itself, not the LCDs. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable will give you a better reply.

Well, if the spare glass is widely available for sale, I hope it should work. I am not going to do it by myself, I'd rather ask a professional ;-)

I've searched for disassembly videos on youtube just to figure out how complicated the procedure is, but they are all alike (even those referenced by people who claim to use it to change the glass!): placing the whole assembly away and telling: "see, now we are done with disassembling the Passport" ;-))

How did you break the glass? Curious how bad (or far) of a fall it was - these things are pretty resilient!

I bought just the screen on Ebay. No problems at all. Harder to get the battery out than anything else. Use Glue Dot strips to re attach screen. Easy...
