    Hi!

    My partner and I both have Blackberry Passports and she is having an issue.

    Her screen brightness level is significantly lower than mine, and I'm not sure why! Both phones are fairly new and should be identical, right? However, when our phones are set at halfway on the brightness scale, hers is so much dimmer.

    Her brightness needs to be turned up almost all the way to compare to mine at roughly 50%. Has anyone else had this issue? The phone works perfectly fine otherwise, but I am wondering if having the brightness turned all the way up all the time is zapping her battery/display or something but we're why the screens would be functioning differently. I would appreciate any feedback, thanks!

    Try this first:
    1. Set both devices to "zero" brightness (slider all the way to the left);
    2. hold the top buttom on both till you see a red LED followed by the BlackBerry logo

    Are they equally bright now? If so, play around with the slider on both devices and see if the issue is fixed.

    Else, it could be:
    • Some app messing up with brightness (I've noticed on my Z10 that some apps Android can set brightness way past what the slider can. Don't ask, I can't explain);
    • Some hardware defect, in which case, you are better off calling warranty.

    Use BBVE and test the ambient light sensors.
    It's the most likely culprit.

    What do you mean exactly and how do I do this?

    Thank you!!

    Also, different OS versions can make a big difference. BlackBerry has been tweaking brightness under the hood in different versions.

    We do have the same OS versions, this is one thing that I checked! Thank you!

    Is there an auto brightness setting somewhere? Or is that what Mad Mdx had mentioned?

    thank you again all!

    Launch the Help app on your phone
    Click the three horizontal line icon at the bottom left
    Choose 'testing'
    Click 'try this now'

    Bbve will be launched
    Choose 'tests' from the three possible icons at the bottom of the screen
    Go down to 'choose a test'
    Choose 'light sensor'
    Follow instructions.

    If you are unable to pass the test, try to reboot the phone
    If that doesn't help, backup the device using BlackBerry link, and reload OS using BlackBerry link.
    Test again
    If you fail the test again, get your device replaced under warranty.

    None of these fixed it

    And when our screens are all the way down, hers is definitely dimmer. When the brightness is all the way up - Mine is definitely brighter.

    Both phones passed BBVE with flying colours.

    There is no auto dimmness or any other setting that could be messing this up, right??

    Thanks everyone!

    I would try do security wipe see if it is software issue, if problem persist then it is hardware issue

    If you are having exactly the same devices, running the same OS version and having the same screen setup, then you should be having the same results. Unless you are using different type of screen protectors to each device.

    If there is a difference, one of them is surely having an issue. And the only way to find out is to get a 3rd device and compare them all together.
