The passport does take good pictures. I always use the 4 :3 ratio since it's the same as camera sensor.

I agree with Phoenix as well. I always use a 4:3 ratio for my photos since it gives you the highest resolution possible, 4160 x 3120 or 12MP. Whereas the other two ratios, 16:9 (4160 x 2340) and 1:1 (3120 x 3120), only result in around 10MP.

I've always liked the pictures that actually worked out, but the issue was how difficult it was to get them to work easily and reliably. Unpredictable autofocus, slow responding (memory hog), it was really bad to take good pictures "on the go". It was so annoying I stopped using my Passport to take pictures.

Since the recent 10.3.1 this has indeed improved by leaps and bounds, and I enjoy taking pictures on my Passport again!

Passport takes good pictures if you can get the darn thing to focus. 75 percent of my photos are blurry when I try to take a picture of a person.

Same issue with the Q10. You can make a cup of tea while it lazilly tries to focus. I've missed many a fleeting moment due to this, but if the camera DOES lock on and shoot in a reasonable time, I usually get a decent result.

I remember one shot in particular as I was on the train. I started the camera app, then went to take the pic. The camera tried to focus and failed. I tried again, it tried to focus, switched on the keyboard backlight, switched it off (why do that when taking a pic???), then it finally took the shot. Of course by then, the train was well past what I was trying to shoot. Haha.

Decent lens and sensor, but BB developers need to devote some time to optimizing the camera focus routines. Until then, I'll have plenty of time for tea...

Nice to hear some people are getting good shots with the Passport camera.

The Passport camera only works for still shots for me. When trying to shoot people, it's always blurry. No matter what settings I use.

How do you guys get good shots of everyday life, anything with motion involved?

To me, the camera is almost useless of it can't take in-focus shots of people.

As a photographer and a motorcyclist I enjoyed looking at both your pics. It's really about what you put in the frame not the camera or the pixel count. The Trumpet looks especially classic with the UK front fender plate.

Regarding pixel count, if you're viewing on a computer screen you can't display more than about 2m anyway. Cramming too many into the tiny cell phone chips is only a way to impress the rubes.

To be honest, there still is a fuzziness/focussing problem with some of the photos on this thread, but the latest update seems to have made a very big improvement with other photos. Hopefully, any remaining camera issues will be solved by the time the Slider hits the market.

Not really.. coz noone outside of us cares, maybe if BlackBerry took the initiative following on from the more bad boy stance they've been giving off, and started their own 'shot from a Passport campaign' (of which thousands of good examples can be evidenced from Crackberry alone' then maybe it would resemble anything close to a competition
