I asked one store they said they might not be getting it. You can get one from BlackBerry.com or Telus roger bell and unlock, it works I tried it

My fellow wind mobile brothers. We must take the unlocked route :)

You get a discount on your bill when you bring your own unlocked phone, right?
For example.. on the 50$ plan, you save 400$. Is that 400$ applied to your bill over 2 years? So if you bring your own phone, your bill would actually be 33.33 for the 50$ plan, right?
Not bad If that is the case.

I also think so :-)

I think blackberry.com is our option.

As long as you are not an existing customer you will bet a discount. I can't remember how much it is however....

I can vouch for the Passport SQW100-1 working on wind mobile network
I dont think they will be carrying the Passport any time soon... sorry

Are you sure? Model sqw100-1 does not state support for 1700 MHz.appreciate if you can confirm.
it supports both 1700 and 2100. I had one from telus, unlocked it and it works , though I returned it since.
Thanks man. I think it's up to 500 with wind 60 package.

What frequencies does Wind support in Canada? Any idea?

Wind Mobile provides UMTS wireless services with High Speed Packet Access (HSPA) for data, using its license on the UMTS IV frequency band, also known as Advanced Wireless Services (AWS). Using this band, user equipment transmits at 1710?1755MHz, and receives at 2110?2155MHz. Evolved HSPA, also known as HSPA+, was activated on portions of Wind's network starting from the summer of 2011.

1700 and 2100 AWS, or some call it UMTS. But NOT LTE.
Correct me if I'm wrong as I've spoken to a Wind store last year and that's not how the bring-your-own-phone to Wind works as advertised; you get X amount of $ off the extra services like add-ons. For example, if you choose the $35 plan, you're still paying the same price but Wind gives you some extra features like voice-mail etc for free (instead of $5 or $10 I don't remember how much it costs).

Ah I c, thanks
Yes this is exactly how it works, you still pay full price for your selected plan but any add-ons or overages get first charged to your "bonus" which is up to 15$ a month i think until your bonus runs out

Thanks for detailed reply.

Wind not even support z30, I asked and they will not program the sim to support my z30.

Z30 works fine. I've been using one for over a year.
Just get it from somewhere, Telus or online, and make sure it's unlocked.
The STA100-5 version is the one you want, which is the one sold I'm Canada and on shop blackberry.
Just pop out your current sim and plug it into the unlocked Z30

an Unlocked Telus Passport works 100% on Wind, we have tested it and it works great.
and yes, if you bring an unlocked phone you do get a discount if I remember correctly, I think it is applied as $5 every month off your bill for a certain amount of months, contact wind to confirm
Yup too bad Wind has really poor coverage in my neighborhood so I have to switch to Public Mobile for now so hopefully they improve the coverage and I'll switch back.
How is the signal been for you so far?
