Technically, BlackBerry phones aren't certified as water proof and/or resistant.. There is this YouTube video though which showed a Passport and a Galaxy S7 being submerged in water..

Watch that video. And for what it's worth, I took a BlackBerry swimming in my shorts pocket for an hour and it survived.

BlackBerry has always been known for top quality hardware.

Call it all you want. It was a curve 9320 and it swam with me in Lake Okanagan.

My Q10 died when I cleaned it with a wet tissue. So, I ain't sure about it being water resistant.

    Haven't tried the Passport yet.

Um. No. Dropped it in water by mistake, end of phone - screen ruined and speaker ruined too.

I don't know what kind of Passport that is on the video. But it's total BS.
But do go ahead and try. See if your Passport resistant or not.

Can withstand some water but if completely immersed in water I dont think the device can survive for long.

I got soaked under the rain, with a weather resistant (ish) jacket, my passport was in the chest pocket and when I took it out it was somewhere between humid and wet; no problems but I won't be chancing it again.

My Z10 died when I bumped it into the sink while the water was running during a shave. Only took a second in the drink, but no coming back. I very quickly scooped it up out of the sink, btw. Got a Passport and haven't looked back.

Great Krypton! This Passport is super!

It all depends of the water.

My Z30 fell in a fountain water and it is still alive and kicking.

Salt water it's not good for any smartphone...

My Passport managed to survive a few seconds under sea water before I got to it. Lots and lots of rain, spilled drinks and juice more times than I can count, oil, steam in the shower... You name it. And it never failed or felt something wrong with it. So maybe it is.

I took my Passport on an ATV ride that involved a lot of water. I put it in a gallon ziploc freezer bag. That afternoon I had to get something out of the box and found my Passport in the bottom of a ziploc bag of dirty water. Like some dead, carnival goldfish. It was "on" when I put it in the bag.

I washed it off with a hose and left it on the dash of my pickup the entire next day.

That was several months ago. It works fine.

But while it was wet, it didn't work.
