I like CB's size comparison photo:

Well done. Thanks for the comparisons. Makes me want the Passport even more. Cannot wait. Cheers.

Passport is meant for text processing and keeping the layout intact in most instances. You don't want Passport if video is your thing, hope for camera updated Z30.
Passport is the first device that justifies 1:1 ratio. Q5, Q10 and Classic should have been 4:3 due to small screen size.
Connect your Passport to a TV then you're good to go.
Using Z10, wanting Z30, eyeing Windermere
The Passport screen can fit an iPhone 4 screen and is just slightly less wide enough to hold an iPhone 5 or Z10 screen. If people are happily watching videos on these devices, the Passport would be good for video as well.
Except your TV is not portable...
The Passport screen is only 0.02" narrower than the full height of the iPhone 5S screen, 3.18" vs 3.2" on the iPhone 5S.
Good info, blue letters are on grey background are destroying my eyes tho.

better be AMOLED, i would hate for black to appear grey, I love the display on my Z30
And the visible screen will display video in landscape that's actually a bit larger than the iPhone 4s screen. As much as I've heard the complaint that the Passport screen will be "unsuitable" for video, I never hear that about the 4s. And of course, the resolution of that video will be higher than either the Z10 or the 4s.
BB should just deliver a 6'5 all touch and destroy the market. At 4'5' its shorter than the z10 you remove the keys you get 5'5' you make it a bit longer and its 6'5' inch the length of a z10 =amazing.
Was the pack using the wrong ratio all along?? All hail the square??
It's a square.... it should be exactly the same landscape or vertical.
I watch a lot of video on my BlackBerrys going back to my 8900 so I'm used to tiny screens! The Z10 opened my eyes to what I was missing and the Z30 blew my retinas wide open!
That said, I am pumped to watch videos on the Passport as I can already imagine how useful the letterbox will be in allowing me to do instant responses to toast notifications without covering up the screen or to view subtitles as some mentioned earlier.
Man I am so jacked for the Passport. My excitement far surpasses the anticipation I felt for the 9900 and Z10 launches. You know why? Because BB10 has matured so much in just over a year and BlackBerry has really cranked up the INNOVATION dial with this awesome capacitive keyboard!
CAN'T WAIT!!!

I hope all the apps, even Android ones, will be forced to be played in vertical mode.

This is a great point. The extra room, whether playing a video or video game won't have the that's obscure the screen.
I share your enthusiasm for the passport. While enthused about the bb10 OS on other device releases (Z10 to me was more about the OS launch) ... the Passport is a genuinely intriguing device that I'm excited for.

Actually, what would be even better would be if the user could specify which ones he wants in either orientation.

4:3 is not a standard ratio for BlackBerry developers (only16:9 and 1:1). You'd have scaling issues. You also have a phone you'd have to turn sideways for landscape and that's awkward with a kb phone.

The display is nice but I find it too dark. It's the only complaint I have with the Z30.

Can someone do the math for the area of the passport screen vs the area of the z30 screen? Might the passport have the larger screen in term of area?

Thanks, this helps to get a better perspective. But why do you have the screen sizes in inches but the difference in cm?
Exactly. Obviously, an S5 or Note 3 will provide a better video watching experience, but millions of people are using iPhones 4 and 5 for this purpose without complaining, so it makes no sense to claim that the Passport screen will be unsuitable for video. Moreover, it will be more suitable for web browsing than anything else out there. A large square screen is a good choice for looking at web pages.
After seeing the Z10 comparison I just can't imagine having such a wide phone. I struggle to use the Z10 one handed. So Im.torn. The classic looks great but I am used to the larger screens and the keyboard is not all that important to me.
Also I have read a few places that the final device will have rounded edges? Does anyone know about that?

Man, the iPhone 4 really was/is tiny...
