    Interesting stuff. Indeed - if the frequencies are standardised then this is not going to be the crux of the matter. My feeling is that it might be something to do with the antenna technology, or as Sai noted, the SIM card.
    In my case, I got a new SIM and talked to AT&T to get my data plan changed to a BlackBerry specific one. One of these factors helped. My guess is that the cellular antennas in the phone are working hard due to a bad sim or the wrong network configuration. That's the reason for the higher radiation. However, there is probably no scientific basis to any of this.
