HDR Does what it's supposed to... now: good or not ?

To make a good HDR picture, what you need first is two good pictures. Good pictures are easier to get with good cameras, not phones. So I would not say it good. Now, compared with other phones, it's not bad.

Your two shots show HDR is doing what it's supposed to...you can see loads of dark area detail while hilights are not over exposed. But, HDR does tend to flatten overall contrast, so image can look washed out compared to standard shots.

Try taking the HDR shot to edit mode and boost some contrast and saturation. It is always better to capture the dark and light details at the time of the shot, then adjust contrast later, rather than loose all those details forever at the capture moment.

Totally agree with Tornado. HDR is a usefully as a clean master shot. Perfect for taking into a photo editor and adjusting the curves later with out losing details in the highlights or shadows...

There are very few situations where I prefer HDR. If I have no choice but to take a photo where the subject is backlit, HDR saves the shot. However, if I can arrange the shot with proper lighting, HDR washes out the image. Here is a situation where the contrast is too strong, and HDR helps.

    With HDR:

In your case, unless it's really important for you to show the clothes rack at the back, I prefer the original shot.
