From the looks of the back surface, if those are cracks it seems the phone got run over. I'd be very concerned the battery might have some physical damage which could lead to a short circuit, explosion or fire. There is a significant stored charge of power in phone batteries....just Google all the reports of phones catching fire etc.

BlackBerry is not immune to this. Your phone is now compromised and of unkown reliability. It should be sent in for a refurbishment, battery changed etc.

Better safe than sorry....but judging by your running across lanes of a freeway, I'm not convinced you value your own safety.

i left my bold 9780 on the roof of my car once. i had to play frogger to recover it from the middle of a busy road.

there were some scratches and chips but the phone kept working fine for a year.

that phone took so much abuse. it was a TANK.

it's still alive in a drawer somewhere.

even though it was sexier and had a better keyboard, i didn't fall in love with my 9900 as much as did with the 9780.

i have a Z10 now, gonna spring for a passport or classic in the near future cause i miss the keyboard dearly.

BlackBerry going strong, good job of what you did to safe your Passport, but it could cost you your life, just don't do it again, it just too much risk for a phone.

Last year I set my PlayBook on the back bumper of my truck. I drove about 20 miles, not all flat or straight. At a stop light in town, the guy behind me jumped out and brought it to me, very thankful.

My passport screen didn't survive a slightly enhanced drop out of my jacket pocket while jogging. Didn't have a case; it just caught on my hand as I removed my hand from my pocket. It may be a tough but it's still worth having a case. Just bad luck. Looking at repair options now. Be careful out there.BlackBerry Passport fell off on the freeway with minor scratches-img_20141214_141555.jpg

Hmm yes we do. Highway and freeway are both valid terms. But do not mean the same thing. Freeway is 100+ km/have ( yet most people always call it highway) while highways are about 80km/h

It all depends on how it lands. Your screen landed in a terrible position.

OP you've made a truth told here.. yes this phone is a BEAST! BUT, don't forget, partly of the survival was due to the good job of the TPU case. now my question is.. WHERE DID YOU GET IT? i need that case too! in case if you bought it over ebay, tell us more about the seller, i'll definitely buy from them! my case is also TPU but it is a bit thin..

How can your phone stay on your hood and not fall off till you reach the highway?

@Surgeon1919: I guess part of the reason the phone never fell down was because of the rubber case that I'm using. It provided some grips to the surface of the car hood. This is my best guess though. I just feel lucky enough that I don't lose that phone of mine.
