Based on recent news, passports by September in London sounds like an improvement...

Why break the naming convention though? So we are not Z10, Z3, Z30, Q5, Q10 system anymore but going back to Bold Curve, Torch, Pearl, and Passport system now? Are both system going to coexist for a while?

Because WIndermere (or from now on Passport) is the first of the second generation of BlackBerry10 and frankly it is time to drop the AWFUL nomenclature that they used in the past.
Passport is a name that everyone can remember and use, not simply an aseptic letter and number. Passport is associated with travel, business and enterprise.. I am really happy about that. Classic is another good name.

It also made Bold a household name of success as well.

I agree with the naming change. I always thought that Z + a number and Q + a number were really stupid names for phones. The BlackBerry Dev Alphas had better names than the retail BB10 devices did. This is a step in the right direction in my opinion.

Absolutely agree with everyone saying the Z and Q names are silly.... different users have different needs, so you can't make ppl think that a Q30 is "better" than a Q20..... i'm all for the new way of naming...

Q and Z didn't work. Let's see Classic, Passport, and the slider phone Banana soar.

September launch confirmed by JC!! This is great news, and on top of it in London!!
I will be one of the first to pick one up!!

Passport is a perfect name for this! I hope this is the return of the "family" naming schemes and for the love of god BlackBerry don't actually call it the "Classic"; might as well call it "The Legacy" or "Relic" or "The phone for all the old fashioned types stuck in their old ways". I'm one of those btw

Plzzzzzzz BlackBerry come up with a cool name for the new Bold, I mean "Classic" *cough *cough

Also if they call it the BlackBerry Classic it's initials will be BC. Now if that doesn't put things in perspective...

I agree Passport is a great name for this sexy device, I am a touch screen guy but seeing BlackBerry Passport in JC's hand making me want to switch.... must refrain from this impulse because I just got my Z30 in the New Year of 2014!
