Ok so I just got my Passport the day before yesterday (Yay me!!) However, I'm getting a little bit confused with the charger. My charger says that its output is 5V-750mA, which is odd (because my Q10 charger's output is 5V-850mA).

While people are reporting here on CB that their charger output is 1300mA or around that. Maybe its different for different region but it shouldn't be like that, right? Lower than the Q10 charger?

I'm from the UK so can anyone in the UK tell me if the charger is supposed to be like that or what?

With such a charger, my charging time is around 4 hour, which is normal but long. I know that I can use a higher output charger for faster charging but can anyone provide me with the specs of the PP battery? like what's the highest current it can sustain and something like that? Geez, these specs are nowhere to be found.

We at CB should make a blackberry wiki -_- Like a wiki for all things and everything Blackberry lol.

Ideal charging rate of battery is 0.5c, since the battery is around 3500mah. One could be fine with 1.8amp and not overheat anything. In addition, min is 1.3amp from stock charger.

I bought my from Vodafone UK and there is 1300mA charger included. So someone is trying to trick you giving you phone with wrong charger. It will take ages to charge Passport with such a weak charger and it may not be the healthiest option for battery.
Both 750 and 1300 chargers looks almost this same, obviously there is different spec on charger but is small print, my 1300 charger have BlackBerry logo moulded outside of n casing which is big and clearly visible when 750 haven't.

Ok here is the basic explanation! In the UK the prongs of your plugs are large which draws substantially more expensive combined with your 75ma USB charger block! Whereas in North America electrical uptake is slower therefore our electrical plug prongs are skinnier. So combined with that and a 850ma charger gives it an optimal charging rate. Neither fast nor slow. The only differences you will actually notice is the much higher rated chargers like the 1.8/2.0/2.4 ma charger blocks.

I purchased from chop CB the Ventev dual USB rapid charger at 2.1amps per USB outlet and works like a charm.

I recklessly use anything that plugs in and have never had any issues.

My charger of choice is my PlayBook one.

    Obviously you're not an engineer.

The size of the pins in the US are sufficient to carry 20 amps at 110 volts AC which equates to much more than 2 amps at USB voltages.

Also, I have 6 PlayBook chargers that are rated at 1.8 amps.

I use the 2A BB charger, works great, fast and secure, battery is fully charged from 15-20% to 100% in 2 hours... used it with q10,Z30,never had any problems and the 2m cord is just the bonus...

You can get an OEM 1.80A PlayBook charger (6ft cord) on Ebay for $5.99 with free shipping. I have ONLY charged my Passport with this.

    Aussie charger,
Passport bought outright in Optus carrier store,
    1300mA

It charges quite ok, the Playbook one kills it, but I'm worried about the battery, the phone gets hot, and we've got that tropical heat combined with heavy usage.

I have started to use the Z10 750mA charger for slow overnight charging, but I have the feeling the battery is not as strong as it used to be anymore, compared to when I bought the phone in October 2014. :-(

Ok so yesterday I notice that this charger that I had took 2 hours sharp to get from 35% to 100%. That is definitely not bad considering it says 850ma only. I guess I'm gonna stick with this charger then.

And the part about the prongs of the plugs can result in better current is wrong because the charger is the part that determines the output. As long as the input is in the range (110~240V 150mA), the output of my charger will always be 5V-850mA

You are killing your phone by giving it less juice consistently. Move up the amps, it's a huge battery that needs it.
