So coming from a Z30. I don't think I'm getting a better battery life than the Z30. I would like other Passport owners to help me out here. Am using the out of box OS. Gives me one day. Am happy. Just curious about the battery life. Any Z30 converted or using with Passport, please update here the comparative battery lives of both. Hope nothing is wrong with my battery life :O

I don't have a Z30 but my passport battery last me more than 10 hours of heavy heavy use

That great for me. If I do moderate use I can get two full days out of it.

I got my Passport 2 days ago, I did the device switch & yesterday I left work on 100% battery, within 2 hours I was down to the 54% range. The battery was draining fast. I wiped the device and added only BBM. It's sitting on 90% showing 16 hours left. The Z30 has nothing on it except SIM and it's sitting on 54% showing 12 hours left. I did update the OS on the Passport this morning when I initiated first time use. After a lot of reading and checking I found PIM services was a major culprit, even on my Z30 battery life was not so great. I had the following on:

    1. Whatspp (2 active groups)
    2. BBM
    3. 2 Gmail accounts (moderately busy +/-20 emails per day), Outlook rarely busy (1 email per month)
    4. facebook (1400 contacts), twitter (141 contacts)
    5. LinkedIn
    6. Games - Minion Rush, Plants vs Zombies, Chess (chess is the one I use most)
    7. Wechat

My emails were set to sync every 30 minutes before I wiped. Now I have nothing except BBM, the 10% I used could have been Google Maps via browser & I passed through a stretch of about 10km to work where network is poor almost zero. Now as I am typing I checked the meter and its showing 17 hours remaining. So I am thinking my network could be unstable (3 to 4 bars), as I checked network again the meter shows 22 hours remaining at 89% (amazing).

So far I am thinking network could be a possible culprit if its not so stable. I am going to add back email first without 30 minutes sync, adding one at a time can help me isolate the problem I am sure.

Continuation: Sorry I am trying to be systematic so this thread will benefit many.

I decided to go full WIFI, disconnected data services by mobile service provider, the battery is showing 88% now, the time remaining is 1 day 13 hours.

    Hi,
I got my passport exactly a week ago and it is on its third full charge. I have been testing the battery life with 3g and data services on throughout day and night. Since the first full charge the battery life has improved a lot. However i have one gripe ,it becomes very hot on the right hand side even with moderate use. Average battery life as of today after the first week is 2 Days and 11 hours!!

    Regards,
    Gautham

That's a pretty good battery life. It'd be nice if you post a screenshot of your device Moniter.

I have around 4 email id set Push notifications. I have BBM. Whatsapp with a lot of heavy use and many active groups. I use BlackBullet for push notifications of feeds from Crackberry, Engadget, Gsmarena. I also have Skype and viber but usage it less. Keeping all this on in the background. My phone gives me a day easy with heavy use.
Loving the battery life. Am on 10.3.1.1016 and love it .

I'm getting between 16 and 24 hours on 10.3.1.1016 depending on use, and that is having left an average of 15 to 20% battery before charging.

Typically when buying a new device we more often than not, use it a lot more in the first we or so because it's new. We're showing it to our friends and family, adjusting all the settings etc... give it some time. Wait until you're only using it as much as you use your z30.

Coming from the Z30 too, I agree that the battery life of the passport is not better while using the phone, the screen, browsing etc.
However there is a huge improvement when you don't use the phone, in stand by it consumes really nothing! So taking in account that we don't use the phone all day long, yes overall the battery life of the passport is better than the Z30!

Hmnn. I've had my Passport for a week now and certainly haven't been impressed with the battery life. It's not poor but only some better than my BBQ10 was. Another thing I was somewhat surprised at was the speakerphone on the Passport. After all the hype about what a great speaker the Passport had, I was expecting it to blow me away. However it is no better than what I had on the BlackBerry Q10. Again it is not bad, it's just no improvement on what I had.

Like hhuber2001, I get multiple days of life. I am in pretty good habit of every five battery cycles I let the phone go completely dead, then a full charge to keep battery memory from reducing battery usage.

For me the battery is comparable to my z30. The display does use more juice on the passport.

Just to let you know letting your battery drain was valid 10 years ago. It's not anymore with lithium ion batteries. Letting the battery go to zero can actually cause a negative effect on your battery.

I would say my battery life is approx the same or slightly less than with the z30, however I stream via miracast way more than I used to. Average battery life is around 19-20 hours with what I would consider heavy usage.
